I finally just broke down and purchased this book because my library didn't have it and of course, just after I bought it, they got the book. Grr... So, who else has read this one and what did you think?

I agree with you on that. I didn't find this one as enjoyable as the first one because I really liked the setting of the first one. Crossed's setting was not as compelling to me, and the relationships between the characters was just not interesting, IMHO. However, I'm still definitely interested to see how she resolved it all in the final book.I just finished and would LOVE to discuss with someone! For me, the beginning felt really slow. . . I had a bit of a hard time remembering where the 1st book left off and what was going on exactly. Overall, I did enjoy it. . . not as much as the 1st book.
Does it seem like The Rising has just as much control of the people as The Society?
