I enjoy creating page templates for the store, but I also enjoy using them myself, because they bypass that awkward ‘where to start’ moment when you are staring at a blank canvas.

I call them ‘creative springboards’ because they give you a jumping off point. But you can take your page in many different directions, which is why you can make numerous pages with any single template set.

I like to create templates which are close to ‘drag and drop’ ie you can add your photo(s) and writing and it’s nearly done.

But you can tweak them at will, as well. My latest set is in store now(and 20% off this weekend)

For a couple of pages, I used them very much ‘as they are’ at first:

But I also flipped them:

Resized them:

And added lots of mixed media elements for a more 'artsy' layout:

Hope that gave you some ideas about how to re-use any templates you have in your stash :-)

love this walk-thru and your explanations - i always like seeing the different ways templates can be used and re-used so thanks Lynn!

I moved the template to the left and added some artsy mixed media to add an additional photo masked into the background from the new "Do You Remember" templates:

Thanks Lynn for your great post and templates!

I was just thinking about how I use templates the other day. I most often use them "as is", but when I use them more like a springboard as you say, rearrange and give them a more personal touch, that's when I get most satisfied with the layouts. Sometimes it can be that you just have to change them up to find another "balance". Often a chosen background paper can make you have to move things around.

For example - I scrapped with Tempus the other day, and I cannot tell you how many times I had to move stuff around until I was satisfied. Now, I'm not even sure you can see I used the template? I used the left template:

and this is the finished layout:

All the bits are there (and then some), just switched out the brushes & paints, and I've moved everything around. Still, I think, once you know I used it, you can still recognize the template somewhat? Right?[/URL]
