Does anyone have any great tips for getting rid of it? The little peanut is 4 months old now and has it all on the top of her head. I bought a wash in the baby section that is supposed to help but I tried it last night and it did nothing and now her head smells horrible from it.

A little baby oil and a comb.

Gently massage the oil into the spots, wait a few minutes then gently use a comb (or a fingernail) to pick the pieces away.

Olive or sunflower oil is what I hear at daycare sometimes... Someone once told me she used oil and then with soft strokes took it off with a postalcard... But never had to try myself!

This is what I always did. Bet coconut oil would work, too.

I bought this stuff in a blue bottle in the baby dept. for my youngest. Rubbed it all in and let it sit and then combed it out with a very fine tooth comb. Baby oil is what my mother used.

Once I got it all out, it stayed gone.

My son had cradle cap for YEARS... (He's six now) and I tried the baby oil and comb route, but it would always come back. Now I have him use head and shoulders shampoo and it's gone... and was gone fast! Like within three uses? I'd read the package and be sure it's safe for your little peanut, but if the other remedies don't work, try that!

Yep, baby oil - and just repeat when it reappears (which it probably will).

My doctor said a pea size amount once a week of Head and Shoulders is fine to use on baby. Just be extremely careful not to get it in their eyes.

I was a big fan of Mustela foam shampoo when Bugga was a baby and I used it until she was nearly a year old. It really kept the cradle cap at bay. They also have a specific cradle cap product that apparently works wonders.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to give the Mustela a try to begin with. It has some good reviews on amazon.

My eldest had it so bad when he was a baby that the skin pieces were as big as my small fingernails. During a stay in a day clinic, one of the nurses mixed olive oil and bi-carbonate soda into a pasty mixture and it sort of exfoliated it all off but she rubbed his head that hard it was red-raw so just be gentle! But he has still got patches of dry spots in his hair and he's now 9. He hardly had any hair until he was about 2 so you could see how bad it was.

We used the Mustela Stelaker cream on Moo when she was a baby and that stuff was a miracle worker. I have no idea where to get it in the states because we were still in Germany, but it's amazing stuff.

Target carries it so I am going to give this line a try. Seems like people have had good luck with it.

Baby Oil when mystaya was a baby, she still has it (and she is 9) so we use Head and Shoulders to wash her hair and it gets it out.

My Emma had that too when she was a baby; I hated it! But, the baby oil did work.... Best of luck! :-)

My oldest, she is almost 12, gets it still but only in the winter months. I took her to the doctor for it and he gave me a steroid type liquid for it but it didn't help. Then I tried the tea tree WEN shampoo and it cleared it right up so every year I order a bottle for winter to use on her. It's expensive but soooo worth it. Caroline isn't old enough to use it on her yet but I bet it would clear it up if I could use it.
