Now that I'm all finished with my Real Estate course, :yippeeI want to start up a running program again. Since it's been 8 years *eek!* since I've run consistently, I've decided to do the couch to 5K program. I figure I need to take it slow. I was looking at the website earlier and it definitely seems do-able...run for 20 minutes, 3 days a week, for 2 months. I can do this!

I also thought that having some one else committed to seeing it through would help me to stay motivated and on track. Anyone care to join me??

Here's the website: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml. Check it out and let me know if you'd be interested.

i did this several years ago (oh wow - it was 2001! LOL) - and haven't run in the last 5 years since kids ... i've really been meaning to do it again, so i'm totally interested! and i need the accountability to stay on track!

I would love to have a group to be held accountable. I have been really inconsistent with exercise this last year since our move b/c there have been so many changes. I could totally run 20 min 3x a week. Count me in!

Lauren- that up&running program looks really cool- I signed up for their newsletter b/c they have a 10k program starting in Sept. Couch to 5k now then 10k then would be perfect timing!

i was thinking the same thing LOL! my goal is really to get to where i can run a 10K :)

Yes, I'm hoping to survive to do the 10k as well. Right now i'm having pain in my knees, which is sucking, but i'm still getting out to do my workouts, cuz i know i need to report back to the team board... def. helps to be held accountable to them! (cuz i'm naturally lazy! uh and a quitter.... uh yeah.) :P

Oooh, yeah! First a 5K, then a 10K, then a half-marathon....I'm awfully ambitious for someone who has been sitting on the couch for the last 8 years, aren't I? LOL!

So can I count you in too, Dana? Assuming that I pass my exams tomorrow, my plan is to start on Monday, but I can wait if another week works better for you guys. (Or if I have to re-take the tests.) Here's to hoping the little bit of studying I've managed to squeeze in over the last few days will be sufficient. :scaredI'm so nervous! I'll let you know.

yes - i'm in! and i'm on vacation this week - so starting on monday will be great! although i'll probably do my running on tues, thurs and saturday :)

Count me in!! I sooooo need partners in motivation and encouragement!! ♥ ♥ I want to learn how to love running...

I ran a half marathon last year and if I can do it then anyone can :) Sara...count me in on that too, I still don't love it and I've been doing it for years. It's something I do..but I can easily say it's not often that I am doing something and I stop and say "I wish I was running" LOL..it just becomes part of a routine. I really just run to keep myself in my shorts and to set a good example for the kids.

We could start a new thread each week for accountability. Everyone has to check in at least the 3 days to say they ran!!! LOL. That is the kind of accountability that I need to stick with it. I ran 3 half marathons (1 per year for 3 years straight) then this last year I was lucky to run 3-4 times a month. I am back at the beginning of needing to get back in running shape so this kind of thing is perfect.

:giggle that is funny Karen! I will be in I think girls. I just ran Tue. and today, and am hoping to keep it up. I ran 3 5k's last year, and then haven't done anything all winter here, but I know I need to get back into it! The 10 lbs I would like to lose hopefully will come off as well!!!

My god I wouldn't run for a bus lol so good luck to you all guys you can do it

That's exactly what I was thinking Alli! I just wanted to make sure everyone who wanted in had a chance to let me know first and to decide on a start date. :) Looks like this coming week is it! Sooo excited!!

You are all amazing... that is all I will say! :) I decided that I am not a runner. I did some running on the treadmill at the gym, but would much rather do an exercise class or weights! :)

i would love to say yes, but i know myself. i'm just not all that interested in getting started with running right now, as much as i know i should be interested.

but i will cheer you on!!! i know you can do it! it seems once you set your mind to do something, you've won half the battle!

Good for you girls! I know how you feel! I LOVE running and was scared to start and everyone needs to start somewhere.I started with 5km and then I progressed to a 10km race that I ran this past June and I'm currently training for a half marathon in September. It takes a lot of dedication but in the end it's so worth it! :)

So...tomorrow starts a new week!! Time to hit the road and start pounding the pavement!! I'll be posting an Accountability Thread so we can keep track of the days we run. :) Just post your minutes/miles/time...whatever you want, just so we know that we're staying on track.
