I know it's not always easy to be green, according to some frogs, but there's a tv show on here called War on Waste (it's with one of the Chaser guys and is on the ABC here for Aussies) and they have been showing landfill and how much people throw out things that could be recycled etc and yes we compost etc but the first thing i thought last night, with my one track mind, was i haven't had to worry about 'wasting' scrapbook paper offcuts and stuff for ages!

Congrats to us all for being environmentally friendly scrappers!

(totally not thinking about the power i have to use to run the laptop to type and scrap...)

Go us! :) We try to recycle but I know I miss stuff. I read once that the underwire in a bra can be recycled. I've never done that.

What we need to do is fix up a bicycle or a treadmill to turn it into a generator. Then we could scrap and work out AND be green!

You know, I never thought about my hobby as being "green"!! I think next time someone asks why I digiscrap instead of paper scrap, I'm gonna bring this gem up! :)

YES!!! That's a great idea!!

I call it "Accidentally Green". :giggle I didn't start out trying to be green, but it sure is!

I'm excited because we got a flier in the mail that we are going to get a big recycle bucket! No more sorting out into the tiny buckets. I think more of the recyclables will end up in it. And I think more of my neighbors will recycle because of the ease.

very cool!
there was one big divider in household recycle bins maybe 5 or more years ago, plastics in the front, paper in the back and i think that must have been too much mentally for people cos it's been one big 'cycle bin since!

I'm proud to say we graduated a long time ago to a dumpster for our recycle. I even go behind my children and pick out something from the garbage to wash and put in recycle. And our recycle bin is always much fuller than the regular garbage.

Im still paper scrap..... BUT I use a lot of recycled product in my projects. AND all my ink pads/stamps etc....... are bought second hand.

Follow up question: What does recycling look like where you live?

In Ottawa, Canada I have a blue box (glass, plastic, metal) and black box (paper and cardboard) that go out on alternating weeks. We also have green bins (compost) which goes out every weeks, and a LOT can go in the compost, including soiled newspaper and cardboard, kitty litter, dryer lint... Our actual "garbage" only gets picked up every other week.

The company we use now we have a dumpster that we can throw it all in. Our old company you had to separate paper from glass and plastic. We live in Michigan USA

We have a great big rolling cart for recycling and the same size one for trash. We are lucky to have two bags of trash each week, but our recycling bins in always much more full. We also have a yard waste bin of the same size for grass clippings and twigs, etc. I was SO happy when we got the big bin for recyling. SO much easier. It made me crazy that my hubby used to spend so much time sorting paper in one bins, plastic in one and metal in another and then the truck would come and chuck it all into the same spot. I told my hubby to stop sorting, but he just couldn't do it until we got the big bin. :giggle

I never thought of it that way... what a great reason, lol! I'm going to use it too! :)

The room full of scrapbooking supplies doesn't count since it's still in my room, right?
