Confession Time

oh my gosh ladies! I have been taking bits of time here and there for the past 2 days trying to round up all of my stray photos that I've taken but have not renamed and put into the right folders on my hard drive. Taking quite a bit longer than I expected! My OneDrive was LOADED!! (thankfully hubby got my computer hardwired, or I'd STILL be trying to DL those bad boys). Also, my memory card on my camera was crammed full! And I guess I had already DL'd some, but left them in a download folder. So I had to go fishing back through those to make sure I had gotten everything I needed off of my camera.
Just now I finally determined that I've grabbed all of my photos. Now, to start renaming (I just batch name by date, so that shouldn't take long) and sorting into the right folders (I have one folder for each week of the year to make PL easier).

I am slightly behind -- I'm still working on week 20 and my week 23 just got finished. However, I make it a priority at the end of every week to go through my photos, edit the ones I want to use and pop them into templates. At the very least I do my week in review card as soon as the week is over. So while I do have several weeks to catch up, the photos and the week in review card are in templates. I just need to put in journal cards and add embellishments and it will be done and I sort of wait to see what my designers release and catch up as I get kits from them. So yes, I'm behind, but no, I'm not worried about it.

Rebecca, do you have Lightroom? It totally saves my bacon in this area. I always have it rename my photos when I upload to include the date, but then when working on PL, I always sort by metadata and it tells me the exact days that I have photos for.

i don't have lightroom. i've considered it, but to be honest, i don't know what all it's supposed to be for. so i have never bothered.

Well, I just DL'd a trial of lightroom to see how i like it. Hoping it will solve some of my organizational issues. Will it work for organizing digital supplies also? maybe that would be more work than it's worth? but i hate not being able to quickly find what i want / need for layouts.

I know that some people use it to organize their digital supplies, I would have to do some searching but maybe someone else can think of who has a tutorial on that off the top of their head. I have just never taken the time to do that.

I use it almost exclusively to edit my photos, but even more it is a huge organizational tool for me and my photos. You have to let us know how you like it!

You can do it, ladies! I'm about 3 weeks behind, but not too stressed. What did stress me, however, was looking in my calendar and realizing I let a whole week go by without journaling anything we did. Either a really boring week or really busy, hehe...

Anyway, sometimes it helps me to do 2 weeks at a time. Stick photos in, then journaling, then fillers. Done. And if you do a current week along with a past week, you will never notice if you are using the same kit/card set, etc... once in the book.

You can so do this, ladies!!

I'm finally catching up myself - finished week 19 just now. I was stressing about being 5 weeks behind, mostly b/c last year I only made it 6 weeks and I am really, really wanting to actually finish this year for the first time.

Yep, it would be a first for me, too, if i finish this year!! I am determined!!

I too am only a couple of weeks behind, and am ok with that at this point - upcoming vacations do scare me as I want to be caught up before I go and take loads of pics. My big problem is getting last years pages resized, uploaded and printed- ugggg- this is is the hardest part for me. I told myself I can't do any challenges/tutorials/extra fun things until I get that book done- I'm just starting October- but it is torture... -how do you guys handle this part - to you resize/upload as you go or procrastinate & whine like I do?....

I would maybe set a goal and do so many per day and then give your self a 'treat' of working on a fun project for a set amount of time, that way you make progress, but still get to do fun stuff and don't get discouraged.

I was catching up on my feedly blogs and came across this post by Ali Edwards: http://aliedwards.com/2014/05/that-...sh-the-last-8-weeks-of-project-life-2013.html
about trying to finish 8 weeks of PL in one day. It was interesting since I am that many weeks or more behind and I appreciated her simple approach: pick photos, print, place in pockets, repeat.

I also liked her ending thoughts on how the pictures capture the here and now, but it is the words that we fill in that help tell the story and make the project richer in the end.

Thinking it might take me more than ONE day. BUT. Next week all 3 kids are at a camp of some kind- gymnastics for Sebastian, violin for Isaac, and horseback riding for Meagan. Maybe (just maybe) I can steel away a big chunk of the days to try to get officially CAUGHT UP!! that would fee amazing!!

I have been on a roll this weekend and was able to put together two picture-heavy weeks (both had one insert) so I'm very happy with myself. I just wrapped up Week 20. This leaves me 3 weeks behind at the moment. But I will be gone for two weeks soon so I want to catch up a bit more before that happens.

8 weeks in 1 day is way above what I can handle!! Let us know how this approach works for you!
