Aaah! My computer has been acting up for a while now. After talking to my tech geek husband, we decided to reformat and see if that did the trick. Otherwise, we knew it was hardware. Uggh.

So I spent several hours backing up all of my pictures & layouts this weekend. Then Saturday he wiped it clean and reformatted the whole thing. At first he couldn't get the drivers to load, and I thought, "I'm doomed!"

But he eventually got it all up & running. *Wiping sweat off my brow*

THEN, this morning I came downstairs & the first thing I saw was a big black screen with one tiny white blinking cursor in the top left corner. That = bad news. At least the screen wasn't blue. I restarted 3 times. Third time's a charm. It's up and running again for now.... I THINK from the last start up it looks like the black cursor screen was because it still had updates it was trying to install but they required a full shut-down. I HOPE that's all it was!

I can't be buying a new computer right now! So if I all of a sudden disappear from the digital world, you'll know why! Eeek!

oh no, Rebecca!!! here is hoping that all is well with your computer, I seriously detest any sort of technical difficulties like that. While I feel like I have decent computer skills (i.e. photoshop, internet, etc.) I have ZERO abilities in actual fixing of problems on a computer.

Ugh... I love computers when they are behaving, but it's awful when you start to feel like you can't rely of your machine! I hope that after a full time-out, your computer has thought about what it's done and starts to behave itself! :)

EEEK! I hate when things like this happen!!! I so hope that it's all sorted now and that nothing happens! I don't want you to disappear :(

When my hard drive crashed last year, it was like a death in the family. Thankfully I had Backblaze and was able to retrieve everything, and everything on my ehd was still good to go. It still was so much work. Getting the service plan worked for me that time though. Normally I don't get extended service plans, but this was an expensive laptop (at the time) and I don't have a tech geek hubby to help me out. I have to be the tech geek in my family...and well...I'm not!!

Oh no!! I hope it is OK!! Computers issues are no fun. I just got a new computer after months of issues and I feel like a whole new person. It's amazing how much we rely on this things, and a bit scary too, haha.

Oh MY GOSH! Good luck! My computer died THIS EXACT WEEK last year...it was a nightmare! I had everything backed up through Mozy, but since I changed formats (I switched to a Mac) I was going to have to pay $100 to retrieve my info. It all worked out since I had saved most of my stuff, but it was still NO FUN for about 3 months!!! :(

Now, I looooooooooooove my Mac and hope I never have problems again. I rely on my computer like a member of my family!

Good luck with everything!! Maybe yours will make a miraculous recovery! :)

Eeek, I've had my share of compy problems myself, but not since I got my Mac. I think you are so smart to get a new one before things go too bad. I am so good and backing stuff up now. I've learned my lesson!

Oh I think I'm going to have to have a Mac. I've had issues with my computer ever since it came out of the box. My battery and power cord have some sort of argument going on and my image processor is psycho. So every now and then I blue screen for no good reason. But it has happened so often now that I'm a little to complacent. I should invest on an on-line service.

Good luck sweetie. Maybe it just needs a little time after it's bath.

yes, so far so good after my black screen scare. it has been very well-behaved. keeping my fingers and toes crossed! it IS pretty old in computer years, and i do work it to death. so i guess it's sorta like asking my 80 yr old grandmother to run a marathon.

go grandma!! :giggle

UGH...hope the issues are short lived and that is lasts a whole lot longer for you!
