Anyone have an easy way of doing this? How do you color your Easter Eggs? I'd like to do this as a kraft with my kiddoes. :)

Last year I just hard boiled the eggs and gave the kids some bowls of dye. They had great fun using their fingers to paint them!

mine just scribble all over them much to si's dissapointment he he likes to be creative with them and is planning on doing dr who

My kids love doing this!! We just bought some eggs, hard boiled them and then just bought the store bought PAAS coloring kit with the neon colors. This year we did as many different solid colors as we could. We did ours last night...here's a photo:

oh another good idea is to draw on them first in white crayon and then dye them and the dye doesn't stick to the crayon!

Ouuu pretty emily!! We're gonna try doing the ones from Martha Stewart Mag this year. They look fun but simple too!

If the weather permits I would do it outside..easter egg dye is a pain in the rear to get out of things! We love to color eggs, I always feel bad though because no one eats hard boiled eggs here and we end up throwing a lot away (I try to pawn them off on our neighbors first).

That is so cool Amy!!

I just get the kids, set up the dyes up in plastic cups, and let the kids go at it. I saw this really cool article in Marth Stewart where you can use electrical tape to put shapes on the eggs before you dye. And you can use wax crayon first on the eggs. The dye won't stick to the wax.

I use all natual ingredients to dye my eggs...it takes a little longer and can be a bit tricky if you are wanting a certain color.

We have done the crayons before you put them in.

Also you can carefully wrap your eggs with rubber bands and do a kinda tie-dyed egg.

And the another one is to right after you take them out of the dye you can quickly dab them with a sea sponge for a neat look.

we will prob just buy one of those kits and let the kids go at it LOL

That's what I do, too. :) The last couple years we did Star Wars themed ones but this year's set was lame so I picked up a Paas monster themed kit. It's essentially a regular kit with added eye balls and some cotton ball type stuff that looks like little colored afros, lol.

I guess I should attempt to do this with the boys, they would love it!! of course, I may need to take some prozac first LOL I am not super crafty and craftiness with the boys is even harder for me!

We do the natural ones as well.. here is a list I found a while back on ways to get different colors

Red: red onion skins, pomegranate juice
Pink: cranberry juice, 3 to 4 cups of rhubarb stalks, raspberries, red currants, or shredded beets. (If those same "beet" eggs are rinsed with lukewarm water right after boiling, they will turn beige.)
Lavender: purple petunias or pansies, violets, grape juice. For a darker lavender use 4 cups frozen or fresh blueberries
Yellow and gold: For each quart of water add 3 tablespoons of turmeric and 2 tablespoons white vinegar. Also try yellow mustard, curry powder, dandelion and daffodil blossoms.
Rich brown: boil eggs in 1 quart coffee
Green: Add a few eggs next time you cook spinach (chopped frozen works great)
Blue: Coarsely chop 1/2 head of red cabbage; soak overnight for a deep royal blue
Chartreuse: Boil in 3 tablespoons of turmeric, then cold dye in red cabbage
Brick red-orange: 4 tablespoons paprika per quart of water

Ditto to Em's process. Bugga looooves it!

Loving these fresh ideas too too! May have to try one!

We will just be buying one of the kits. In fact I may have some leftovers from last year. Need to check though. Easter is really sneaking up on me this year!
