JANUARY. 1: Clean & Simple Style

Welcome to a new year and the first day of the Month of Challenges here at the Lily Pad! What a year of change we had in 2025! Thanks to Esther's wonderful leadership, her upgrades to the forum/Gallery and her continuation of the wonderful comradery & community here at the Lilypad, we are thrilled to be continuing on with MOC! It is with this in mind we are moving forward with MOC13 "The Next Chapter", so get ready for a fun month of challenges!

I am thrilled to be hosting today’s challenge of creating a Clean & Simple Style layout.

I really love this kind of layout. While I do not always scrap “clean & simple”, I find it is a great way to have a single photo or idea shine on a page with using only a few elements and a background paper. Sometimes less is more. While this may not be your "normal" scrapping style, it is always fun to try something different.

Clean and simple is just that:

· Clean - meaning lots of white/blank space on the page… most of the page will have nothing on it.
· Simple - meaning only a few elements and simple/neutral papers to accent the photo. With there only being a few elements on your page, it is important to take the time to select just the right ones (also known as minimalist).

The specific instructions for this challenge are simple!

Create a Clean & Simple style page with the following:

NO TEMPLATES PLEASE!!!

  1. 1 photo (does not have to be new).
  2. neutral/solid or lightly patterned paper(s). (We want photos to shine without page being busy.)
  3. a "minimal" amount of elements to accent your photo (and/or journal card) - Remember- "Less is More"...Your page MUST include more than just a photo and a background paper. :)
  4. Have fun!

Here is my page and a few samples:
For my page, I used 1 photo, 3 papers (light pattern & duplicated neutral kraft paper), 7 elements - 4 buttons, 1 light border edging, 1 foliage, 1 staple) a date and title. [I wanted the photo to shine with the sweet veggie snack my hubby made me!!]

Here are 2 other examples of clean and simple style scrapped pages that I have made over time:
  • A page with a lot of white space. It has 2 papers, 9 elements and one photo.
(Used: Just Jaimee | Merry Mayhem Bundle https://the-lilypad.com/store/merry-mayhem-collection-bundle/)

  • And an example concentrating on the top portion of the page with white space, 1 photo and 6 elements and a quote.
(Used: Lynne-Marie's Fallow Vale Bundle https://the-lilypad.com/store/fallow-vale-bundle/)

In addition to the specific instructions above, your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places:
  1. Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (no outside hosting will be permitted)
  2. Posted in your MOC 13 page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder, using the Copy GALLERY BB found on the right side of your page in your gallery
    • You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts
    • Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean
  3. Posted in this thread using the Copy GALLERY BB found on the right side of your page in your gallery.

Your page must contain Lilypad product (pages with photos and font only do not count). Product from other stores will not be allowed for MOC; your pages must contain 100% Lilypad product (current or retired product from designers or guest designers presently selling at The Lilypad). For more details, check out THIS post.

I can't wait to see what you create! Have fun scrapping!
