I am waiting until after Thanksgving. How about you?

I'm not sure how elaborate I want to get this year because we are flying to my parents for Christmas on Dec 18th. I'll probably still do the front door, mantels, staircase garland and one tree. It seems like so much effort when we aren't going to be home for Christmas, but I can't stop myself!!

How much do you do? :tree

cuz its so hot here i dont have alot of christmas spirit so i put up a tree and not much more

idunno... i've been kicking around digging out the decorations and the tree... maybe before thanksgiving... we usually do it the weekend after, but we'll be out of town that weekend. i'm not sure what we'll do yet. i'm kind of dreading the decorating... don't get me wrong, i love having things decorated, but in the new house, i don't know where to put everything... everything had a place in our old house. i guess we'll look at it as a fun adventure and just figure it out as we go.

I always wait until the day after Thanksgiving. I usually get both of the trees out Thanksgiving night so that they're ready to decorate on Friday. The roofline, some trees in the front yard, the guest bath, both kids bedroom, the living room, dining room and den all get a healthy dose of decoration. I'm a bit of a Christmas freak.

I am SO in the mood for the holidays. But traditionally we always put up the lights and get a tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. We've had to tweak the tree timeline a bit since living in umm...uberwarm locales, lol. But it doesn't feel like advent to me if we don't have it up by the start of December. We decorate a bit throughout the house, mostly main living areas.

"just" after Thanksgiving - I'm totally in the holiday spirit this year!

Definitely waiting until after Thanksgiving. I'm one of the last few people in the world (at least I feel like it) that WILL NOT rush our Thanksgiving! :) I also am not a huge decorator - I mainly do the tree, the stockings, and a few other little things, but that is it!

I'm actually most excited to haul out my warm flannel sheet set - they are kind of wintery and I just can't bare to rush the season of fall out yet since I know once I welcome in summer here in MI it is here to stay for a LONG time.

We usually go get our tree from a tree farm the Sunday after Thanksgiving and then we spend that day decorating. I don't do that much other than the mantle and a couple things on tables around and our advent calendar (felt tree with different felt decoration velcro'ed on for each day)

I'm really not sure. Rick won't be home until Dec. 21st this year. I don't know if I'll be in the mood to do it all by myself or not. If I can tear the boys away from football on Thanksgiving, maybe I'll have them get everything down for me!

We will probably do ours next weekend. I still have to figure out where to get a tree around here. Hopefully we can find a farm of some sort like we were used to in NC. I am excited about decorating a new house, too. It was fun at Halloween and I am sure it will be fun for Christmas as well. I have a mantle now too!!

OMG not till part way through December! Can't rush these things!
And we only have one tree. Very few decorations for it too as I threw heaps out last year. Nothing else. Maybe DH will string some lights up at the front of the house.

I always used to put the tree up at the end of term when I was teaching. It was a bit earlier last year as the girls were old enough to be excited. They're SUPER excited this year so will probably be earlier still :). Probably mid-December like Erin though. If it's anything like last year I'll be getting utterly fed up of telling them to leave the baubles alone...

We only (by we I mean 'I' with a fair bit of interference from the girls - I can't be the only one that rearranges all the tree decorations once the kids have gone to bed :), and dh has nothing to do with it!) decorate the living room and that's only tree and mantelpiece. I don't normally even put cards up!

It's really interesting to hear that most of you don't start until after Thanksgiving. It makes me wonder who all the retailers are targeting when they have Christmas decorations for sale in October!!

i'm going to try to do most of mine the weekend after thanksgiving - i'll do the main tree, front door wreaths and decorations in the outdoor planters, electric candles in the windows, decorated mantles (3 fireplaces) and some smaller decorative items in our entertainment center and on the breakfast table ... i think that's it ... although who knows - i go overboard sometimes ;) LOL! right now we only have 4 people coming to celebrate christmas with us - but 6 other relatives are thinking about it ... if they come, then i'll do more :)

Either this week or next. I love Christmas, but we don't have much in the way of decorations since we're in an apartment. We have a tree, a garland for the entertainment center where we hang our stockings, and I have a small Christmas tree (tabletop size) collection that I spread out through the common areas.

we do ours whenever it strikes our fancy...sometimes we have done it on halloween just to counteract that sincE I don't like halloween. hahaha! This year we are doing it next week. I will do a tree and take down all the summery wreaths and put up christmas ones and take down all the other decor on the shelves and swap them out for my xmas stuff. we don't really do anything outside cause our bills crazy.

We do one big tree and the mantel generally, with a wreath on the front door. This year I have small trees for the kids' rooms. They are so excited. My boys are Hallmark ornament freaks. They just love them and if they make noise and light up, that's even better.

Normally we would decorate this weekend but we're doing it next weekend since we were out of town.
