Did you know there is a National Chocolate Chip Day? Seriously, who comes up with these things?

But, since I like Chocolate Chip Cookies, I figured I'd roll with it. So, without further ado....5 Curious Questions about Chocolate Chip Cookies....

1. Do you like Chocolate Chip Cookies?
2. Do you have a go-to recipe? Is it the one on the bag? (No shame here! That's my mom's "secret family recipe". )
3. Semi-sweet; mint; butterscotch; milk chocolate; Peanut Butter: What's your favorite chip to snack on? Oh, wait. I mean bake with....:whistle (and if I missed yours, feel free to tell me!)
4. Soft and chewy? Hard and crispy? Dipped in milk? How do you like your cookies baked?
5. Who makes your favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie? Stores and Bakeries count too!

1. Do you like Chocolate Chip Cookies? Yes. There's something about them that makes them my go to cookie.
2. Do you have a go-to recipe? Is it the one on the bag? (No shame here! That's my mom's "secret family recipe". ): I usually use the one on the bag in the interest of time. I love another one that calls for you to melt and cool the butter, but that's a lot of work....
3. Semi-sweet; mint; butterscotch; milk chocolate; Peanut Butter: What's your favorite chip to snack on? Oh, wait. I mean bake with....:whistle (and if I missed yours, feel free to tell me!): I'm a Guittard Semi-sweet girl for baking. And the milk chocolate for snacking....
4. Soft and chewy? Hard and crispy? Dipped in milk? How do you like your cookies baked? : I like them soft, with a slight chew. If they are hard, I need milk with them!
5. Who makes your favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie? Stores and Bakeries count too!: I do. LOL. I do enjoy my aunt's cookies, but she usually bakes them a smidge too long for my taste.

Jacques Torres' chocolate chip cookies, which he made on The Chew a few years ago. They're big and have chunks of salt on top. YUMMMMMMMMYYYYY!

Semi-sweet are my fave.
4. Soft and chewy? Hard and crispy? Dipped in milk? How do you like your cookies baked?
I like a bit of a crisp outer layer but a soft center. Like, hardly baked. And I like them fresh out of the oven. In fact, when I was pregnant with DD all I craved was fresh-baked choc chip cookies (3 of them) with ice cream on top. That's, like, all I wanted to eat. Yikes, right?

My DH makes the best, but I make the second-best. :) Usually he makes the dough and I make the actual cookies. He does the work and I get to eat the reward!

ahh. you are evil! I am trying to be good (as of today! LOL). i may or may not have eaten an entire pan of brownies on mother's day. :(

i love love LOVE chocolate chip cookies. they are just classic.

1. Do you like Chocolate Chip Cookies? YES, too much.

4. Soft and chewy? Hard and crispy? Dipped in milk? How do you like your cookies baked? Soft and chewy, and gooey - best when eaten warm right out of the oven. I do enjoy a little crispy edge too!
5. Who makes your favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie? Stores and Bakeries count too! I like mine. Not a fan of store bought ones. I think I like mine bc I can eat them warm and I add a touch more vanilla than the recipe calls for.

Oh yeah! I love putting ice-cream in between two of them ... when they are a little harder and past the day 1 mark. They are usually crunchier and the ice cream softens them. And well ... it's ice-cream AND cookies - so there's that! LOL

Always been semi-sweet chocolate chips although I have been known to also include butterscotch chips or regular m&m's in my cookies.

5. Who makes your favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie? Stores and Bakeries count too! Can't say that I have a favorite store or bakery, I eat them all. Our local Wal-Mart bakery has pretty good cookies. As for off the shelf, has to be Keebler Soft Batch cookies.

I will admit that I have cheated lately and bought the Nestle Toll House cookie dough the last few times I wanted cookies. Tasted pretty good without all the mess.

Semi-sweet for sure, but my son's girlfriend only likes dark chocolate and they are surprisingly good as well... not quite as sweet.

4. Soft and chewy? Hard and crispy? Dipped in milk? How do you like your cookies baked? I like mine pretty much anyway, but DH (the choc chip man) likes them burned... like black on the bottom. Ewwww.

When I used to make them a lot many years ago, I used that recipe that went around in the early internet days (mid-90's) that was supposedly worth hundreds of dollars because of how someone got the recipe from a fancy store (Neiman Marcus, I think). Sorry I don't remember the exact story, nor can I find the recipe anymore.

However, I have photos of my go-to recipe from back when I made cookies the most, as a teen. :) You can see how well used the recipe was!

BTW - when I was growing up we would scrounge the cupboards looking for a snack. My mom's only rule was that we could not open any new packages, but already open ones were fair game. We would take a handful of chocolate chips, put them in a cupcake paper holder, twist the top, and use the heat from our hands to melt it into a giant Hersey kiss type shape before eating it.:faint2

If I'm just eating the chips (LOL! Yes, I'll admit it), I like milk chocolate. In cookies, I prefer semi-sweet.

I like soft & chewy. Hubby likes hard & crispy. I always have to put his in the oven longer than everyone else's cookies.

We recently found a place here (they're also in Utah) that will deliver fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. Right to the door... They'll also deliver milk if you're out!

5. Who makes your favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie? Stores and Bakeries count too! Paradise Bakery used to have really good chocolate chip cookies....I'm not a fan of the Panera Bread in our area, so I don't know what they're like anymore.
