children's room storage ideas please

currently my 2 kiddos share a bedroom and they have a bombsite of a toy room for all of their toys but with Jaylen starting school next year we want to give them their own bedrooms again as they are disturbing each others sleeping.

So I need to find some groovy yet practical storage ideas for the kids toys so that their bedrooms don't end up bombsites too.

Anyone have any ideas or links to great sites? Please, pretty please

i need to do something with my littles one room too!! so i'll be watching to see if anyone has anything that works!

I don't have any great ideas, but I have a chest in our living room that looks decorative, but inside it has some of their most played with toys. Their rooms then each have a section of their closets for toys as well since they have dresser and closet.

Do you have an IKEA near you? I LOVE love LOVE their children's storage!!!
We put our laundry in here

We have that too, it's called Trofast:

I love it. If you have a long wall, you can buy different sections and build it together so it covers the whole wall.

My oldest DD has an expedit bookcase, I like this too as it will last the a while. Now she has baskets with toys in most of the "boxes", but as she gets older and has less toys, we'll just take out the baskets.

ooh me likey! I agree the bookcase would certainly grow with the kid's needs

My daughter has pocket shoe organizers hanging on every door in her bedroom. I was able to get ones that coordinate with her shabby-chic bedding from Target. They are perfect for storing her Barbie dolls and all their accessories. I could see using clear ones for smaller items like cars and action figures....

oy! I have that exact problem at our place too... I need to go through their toys and sort everything... We do have one of these:

But I originally was going to get the set Manda has.... I may get those when I go to Ottawa next month. I absolutley hate my kids play room....

I'm another IKEA huge fan, most things in our house are from there :)

We have TROFAST as well and we change the drawers as kids grow, LOVE this storage system.
Kristine, I have that expedit bookcase as a part of my office :)

So you will definitely use it for a loooong time :)

We had one of these for each of our kids and they loved it. It was a game each night for them to pick up their toys.

We also used one of those net things that you can hang in the corners and put stuff in. We called it the stuffed animal hammock and each night, my kids had to put their animals to "bed." LOL

I just remembered something else I want to get from IKEA for the kids bedrooms, I saw it on a Norwegian blog, and it's awsome - just haven't gotten round to it yet. I think it's these shoe cabinets:

and I'm going to hang them on the wall next to their desks to keep artwork and papers in, like this:

That blog has some great tips for toy storage, you probably won't understand it, but there's lot of pictures from their playroom (which kinda looks more like a toyshop, there is so much stuff!):

I've got an unhealthy IKEA addiction too, and working 5 mins away from IKEA does not help matters.
