First of all, how did it get to be July already??

I was checking my weird holidays calendar and today is International Chicken Wing Day! Did you know that Buffalo chicken wings were first served at the Anchor Bar and Grill in Buffalo, NY in 1964? I read that they serve more than 70 thousand pounds of chicken wings per month!

I'm a buffalo wing girl, the hotter the better, with some blue cheese for dipping! Most of the time I get the boneless wings just because it's easier. We had a waitress at Hooters one time show us how to easily take the bones out but I never can remember exactly how to do it the way she did. When I ask DH, his only comment is "did she even have a head and hands?" :giggle I used to make them at home fairly often, but haven't in a really long time. We usually just hit up Buffalo Wild Wings when the craving hits.

What about you? Do you like chicken wings? Boneless or bone-in? Buffalo, bbq, plain, something else?

I love chicken wings!
I had heard about their beginning. The Artful Detective had a cute episode about the Captain eating at a place in Buffalo. He got there late, so the only parts of the chicken left were the wings. He was so hungry that he'd eat anything & put a lot of sauce on it. Fictitious, but cute.
I too am a fan of the Bleu Cheese for dipping, but it's not a deal breaker. I love a plate of hot wings & macaroni salad. I used to make them with sweet chili sauce from the Asian market. I haven't made them in years. I just buy the frozen kind now. Mine have to have bone, the boneless are like chicken nuggets to me.

Love buffalo wings! I like the wing ones though not the ones that look like little drumsticks. Not really a drumstick person. I don't dunk them in anything either. Just plain for me.

That's a cute story!! And now I want wings and macaroni salad lol. That sweet chili sauce sounds great!

I'm not a drumstick person either. My son will eat tons of them at a sitting and I just can't. Plain buffalo wings work for me, too. I usually alternate bites, one dunked, one not lol.

We went to the Anchor Bar a few years ago on our road trip to Niagara Falls!

To be honest, I've never really been a fan of wings, but it's an issue I have about bones in meat vs. the taste. I can't do anything too spicy. There's a place by us called Honey Butter Fried Chicken (yes, fried chicken served with honey butter... sooo wrong, but sooo right... lol!) and they have really good special wings each month.

Everybody I know loves wings - the hotter and messier the better. I'm like Tracie @tkradtke I don't like spicy food but that Honey Butter Fried Chicken place sounds very good!

I like semi-spicy (I can't do too spicy... #gettingold), and I love kind of savory wings, like the garlic parm at BWW.
DH is grilling chicken today. He's smoking drumsticks and he'll do a BBQ and a wing sauce to dip.

Today is also Canada Day, so I'll eat a very USAmerican wing dish and toast to our northern neighbors! If only we had a Tim Hortons near us; I'd toast with a Canadian maple donut!

Guess this is an American thing, we've got Kentucky Fried chicken, but it 's not a 'specialty' here...
Would love to try them the original way!

I love wings!! Bone in or out haha! We do VERY spicy here too! I also love wings in other flavors like garlic & herb. We have a Buffalo Wild Wings here and they have so many different kinds. For my typical Buffalo Wings I prefer ranch over bleu cheese for dipping. We recently purchased an air fryer and wings are on my list to attempt in there haha.

Hmmmm That honey butter chicken sounds intriguing! One of my favorite dipping sauces for regular chicken nuggets is honey, so I'm think that might be really good!!

I have not tried the garlic parm at BWW, but I'm thinking now that I should!
And yes! Happy Canada Day to all our northern friends!!

I used to love KFC, but then my oldest son worked there and I almost never got that smell out of my house haha. Now that's all I think about!

Let us know how it turns out in the air fryer! My mom has one and I've considered it, but I wonder how much I would use it. Do you use yours often??
