Just got off the phone with my credit card company. Apparently, the card I used to purchase my Adobe software was accessed by someone other than me. Adobe had notified me that they had had a security breach, and that my information may or may not have been compromised. Looks like MAY is the correct answer. There were about $200 of charges on there that weren't ours. Chase was great in taking care of it. Reversed off every one of them without a single question asked and closed the account.

While it was easily handled, still... people stink sometimes. :thumbsdowns so not cool to take someone else's stuff and use it as your own.

Blergh. It stinks when that happens. Sorry, Rebecca.

I was in the group of compromised cards too, so I will definitely be double-checking my statement now!

Oh Rebecca that is awful! I;m happy to hear that Chase was good with you and took care of the charges. People need to stop causing so much harm to others!

boo! that is super uncool. i'm glad you didn't have any added headache with the bank. that could have made things double frustrating.

It's amazing just how easy it is these days for people to get your credit card information and use it. But at least the banks are making it so much easier than it was even 3 or 4 years ago.

I worked in a bank for years and it's always so frustrating to hear about crooks taking money from hard working people. Get a real job like the rest of us!! Glad the bank is taking care of it though!!

oh my goodness, that's terrible! I'm very glad you got it all taken care of tho!

I've got an Adobe account and I don't remember being contacted. Maybe I should look at are CC bill!

That's such a bummer! I'm glad that it's been easy to take care of it though. I've been watching my credit card statements really closely, but I always do that. I got the email that my info was compromised too. I also got another email from Adobe offering me a free year of credit monitoring and identity theft protection too. I didn't sign up, but maybe I should have.

Glad the banks are looking out for you. Our bank rings us if there is a small amount taken out (less tahn $10) from a non regular store-It is an indicator that someone is fishing for your CC details - we got hit by one of these once but thanks to the banks policy that was as far as it went. Annoying to have to change the card though! (luckily The Lilypad is counted as regular otherwise I would be getting quite a few calls from them..)

We had our debit card stolen from our hotel room once, by our maid. MAJOR PITA. Since it was our debit card, withdrawals are instantaneous, so we had to cover almost $3,000 in charges she racked up until the bank processed our claim and reimbursed us.

People do stink. Glad they took care of you Rebecca!

I've had that happen 3 times in 15 years. The last time was last Christmas. What I hate the most is, I have most my bills to automatically charge to my card then I just pay off my card every month. So when my card got stolen I had to go into each web sight and update my new charge number. It takes forever to do.

Some scammer was taking a few dollars out of one of my rarely used accounts every month for like 2 years before I noticed. :thumbsdowns

I was able to get most of them reversed but geez. I need to pay closer attention to my debits!

That's what it was that made them contact me - a $5 purchase at a Best Buy in Maine. Turns out, they've also purchased a few different times from Goosberry Patch, which apparently sells country cookbooks & calendars... I guess that didn't strike them as odd - maybe because I've bought planners online before?
