Car Names

Fun! yes all of our cars have names- but that's mostly because in our Apps on our phones (which is our car key & controls) each car has a name.

Mine: Gweny- We got my car right after the "onward" pixar movie came out- the kids & I loved Guinevere the van. And since my car is a model Y="GwenY"

DH: Wheels- my husband's hockey nickname for his entire life

DD: No Puedo Elegir- means I Can't Choose in Spanish (my daughter has been doing 4 years of Spanish and we always joke that she's SO indecisive, so that's what her car's name is for now. My husband changes it pretty often in the app though and it's always entertaining.)

I love the story behind each name! I’m super indecisive like your daughter. ;)

My car is a kia soul. She is an ugly baby whit brown color almost caramel color

So we named her Carmela
Because she's a car and caramel color

That's clever! Whenever I see another Kia Soul I flash a peace sign and say, "Peace to the Soul." Consider yourself flashed! :driving

My husband introduced me to the idea of naming cars. He drove "Jimmy" when we met. Then we bought "Blaubear" together. That's a poor pronunciation of the Swedish word for blueberry, because the car was blue. When we bought the minivan I've been driving since 2004, he thought up a name, but we've both forgotten it. And since 2018, he has been driving "Willoughby Wrightback."

Sounds like Willoughby wears a monocle and top hat! LOL!

Oooohhhh man.....I love this thread so much!!!!!!!

We name all our cars.
Every...single one of them.

We used to have an old maroon Honda Civic we called, Red Velvet. The kids still call it that when we talk about the times we moved to Michigan when they were little and we were packing it up. lol

Then after it died and we bought our new Chevy Cruze, we named her Courtney, because at the time we were watching a lot of As Told By Ginger cartoons with our kids that has a character on the show by that name. (I think the kids chose this one, but we liked it and it stuck)

When we got our 2nd vehicle, which was his moms Chrysler 300, this was to be DH's "cruising" car. It's older and he wanted to fix it up "his style" he added a sound system and chrome rims etc.....so he named her Trina (after a 90's rapper named Trina who called herself lovingly "the baddest b....expletive") and he said his car was now the baddest ...rofl it makes sense in his head!

When the Cruze got totaled by the hail storm and we sold it. I was able to get a new Chevy Malibu. The color is called Dark Ash, which is like a dark grey with a tint of navy. I tinted my windows super dark and I named her STORM! That was the vibes she was giving with how she looked and I liked it. That's what I named her in my app too.

Carmels makes her sound pretty.

That last name is a mouthful! I want to say my older sister names her cars but she’s the only one I can think of out of my family.

My daughter began naming her vehicles when she got her first car - Lola the Corolla and now mine is Sally the Subaru.
I love Lola the Corolla! I wish my car model was fun to rhyme with!

I love all these stories! Especially Trina lol

Oh yes, I'm a car namer..... Always....

I have driven... Humphrey (Dad's old Station wagon), Ramona (White Dodge Daytona, my first car, such a pest), Matilda (a cute kinda fun goldenishbeige color haha 4 door sedan), Bentley (my first Jeep, pretty blue), a miscellaneous leased Honda I never named and disliked = lasted a year, Betty (White Saturn and then Betty again for a GMC Silver Acadia - same exact car types but different models after GMC bought out Saturn, lol), and Lucifer (Lucy for short, lol - my second Jeep, all black)

I'm an odd duck. lol

I love Lucifer for a black car lol I’ll never think of the name Lucy again without thinking of Lucifer lol

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee so her name is Jeepy. Real original right? Lol.. My daughter just bought her first car and it's a black Mazda CX-5. She named it Mavis, like the young vampire on Disney's Hotel Transylvania.... because she is also cloaked in black/black hair, lips etc and we liked the M- M alliteration. Lol...

I love Mavis! I always call my car “the white one” so I’m really original too lol
