According to my calendar at school, tomorrow is National Candy Corn Day.

And it seems to me like most people either seriously love Candy Corn

or seriously hate Candy Corn

I admit, I'm a hater :giggle. I just really do not like it at all! It's like eating a piece of wax sugar to me. What about you? Are you a candy corn lover or a candy corn hater? Or one of the few people that falls in the middle somewhere?

I love candy corn...but only during Halloween. That's the only acceptable time to eat it.
The pumpkin ones in the Fall Harvest mix are my favorite.

Back in the day (LOL) I loved candy corn!! But I don't know if they changed their recipe or my taste changed as I got older, but it's not good like it used to be! Same with Bit-o-Honey!

It is pretty yucky in my opinion, but if you mix it with equal amounts of salted peanuts it becomes a mindless watch tv edible. Not that that's a good thing ...

i can honestly say i've never had it (i dont know if it's even sold here?!) So tell me what it actually tastes like - i've always imagined it's like candy cane consistancy (like slick and hard but i hate them) and taste like caramel popcorn (which i like) - am i even close?!
describe away both haters and non-haters!

@bellbird haha it's hard to explain! Candy corn has a kind of waxy, chewy, fondant type texture and to me it just tastes like sugar or honey with maybe a bit of buttery flavor. That's why I don't much care for it...too sweet.

I mostly dislike it, but don't hate it. Black licorice and pickles are far, far worse flavors in my opinion. It's just that my desire for sugar in general has greatly diminished in the last decade. However, I bought a small bag of candy corn to put in a bowl on our table for Halloween night (I have 3 kids and we're having guests) and I will probably eat a few pieces.

@bellbird I think Jan described them well. Imagine hardened frosting (or fondant like she said) covered in a very thin layer of wax (to keep that corn kernel shape) and just sweetness. I'm not sure I'd say it's like honey, but I noticed honey is listed in the ingredients, near the end. I don't think I've eaten any in a couple of years, so maybe I'll have to come back here and write again after I've eaten some tomorrow evening. :)

I'm a "couple of handfuls" person... after that I'm done. I would definitely call it hardened frosting. Overly sweet.

I like it ok. I'll eat a few piece at Halloween and I'm good for another year. I do prefer the pumpkin shaped ones best.

I'm neutral. I'll have a few pieces if it's here, but I wouldn't buy it. I do like eating it layer by layer though. Strange, I know.

Keep that stuff away from me! It's totally addicting! When I buy it for my grandson, I have to keep it out of my vision. I like the pumpkins the best too. Maybe because they're bigger, lol.

I would never purposely choose to buy or eat it but if I was at someone's house & it was lying around, I might eat a couple of pieces.

Its taste is indescribable. It's... candy corn-flavored.

So I was telling my DD about this chat. She said the consistency of candy corn varies over time - fresh stuff is soft while it gets harder as it ages. I would describe it as being like taffy. My husband said it was better than taffy.

Anyway, so much discussion about it, I could not get the taste out of mind. So we stopped at the store and got some on the way home from piano lessons. I plan to make the candy corn bark soon.
