Campfire Ghost Stories – Let’s Get Spooky!

I don't have one yet. I think I will have a look at the Japanese folklore about that because my oh my, they have scary stories!! I think Japanese movies are scarier than what we have in the west. I saw one with some friends once and couldn't sleep that night. I even had to think twice before getting up and go to the bathroom. Believe when I say it because I loooove scary movies and horror movies but Japanese ghost movies, NO MORE!
Some of you might now it : JU- ON The Grudge

But as a personal story, I remember going to summer camp in France when I was in junior high-school and there were talks about what they called the White Lady. Well, again, I had difficulties going to the bathroom in the middle of the night just because of it :lol Still to this day I remember the long dark corridor outside my dorm room and having to cross it just a bit almost in front of my dorm room to go to the loo was a challenge in itself :lmao:lmao:lmao

I don't like horror stories, or believe in ghosts, but there is something that I experienced a few times in my life which is called sleep paralysis, and I hate it. It happens in the morning when I wake up, and I open my eyes and I see the surroundings as they are, but I can't move (not even a finger or head) and sometimes it's just that, and it's freaky already with me trying to either go back to sleep so that I could wake up properly whilst feeling very anxious, but sometimes it's even worse: I see things from the dream seep into the room. It happened once that my friend was sitting at the foot of my bed (like @trekmom had seen her father) and I was trying to speak to her, and straining to wake up, and mentally in total anguish yet as the name suggests unable to move as if paralyzed, and then the phone rang and I managed to get out of that state though as I jumped out of bed I threw up from the effort and anxiety, and when I picked up the phone it was my friend's mother who told me that the friend I was seeing just there on my bed moments before had passed away that night. So even though I would say I don't believe in ghosts, what was that? I can't explain it. I had a similar experience the night after my Mum died, I felt presence and heard whispers but couldn't wake up or move to turn my head to where I believed I would see Mum...
I heard about that. I might have had it a couple of times but not as obvious as you. No seeing things either... I don'te remember so. Just feeling paralized. I think I saw somewhere that it's just before you wake up and the brain signals get wonky and the brain is somehow awake but the body is still not all on synch and you can't move. But it is scary indeed. I think hubby too had those more than me. Maybe related to stress too, if you say it happened after your mum dad. But wouldn't it be endearing if indeed they would come one last time to check up on us and say goodbye? I wish I had such a memroy with my lost loved ones.

One day, when my son was about two years old, he was sitting on the bathroom counter getting his hair combed after a bath, and kept looking up at the corner of the ceiling. I said, "What are you looking at?" And he replied, "It's my angel!" I was like, okay...and the only thing I could think of to ask was what's her name, and he said, "Sally." And that's the last I ever heard about it. Gave me goosebumps for sure!

I love horror stories, ghost stories - all of them - both as movies and to read them! I am not easily scared.

But I have encountered some paranormal experiences in my life - some just friendly and some a little more creepy.

Here's one:
Before we moved to our house we were living in a flat in town. The house it was in was almost a 100 years old. At the time I was studying to become a teacher and one day I was home alone and working on a project at my desk. it was placed so it I was sitting with my back to the entrance to the room. Suddenly I could hear like someone was sneaking up from behind me and grabbing my chair. I could also sense someone/something leaning over my shoulder and breathing into my ear - you know like when someone wants to watch what you are doing.
The thing is I never felt scared when this happened. It just felt that something was there and was curious about what I was doing.

Several years later I found out that the house where we lived used to be an old orphanage and that others living in that building had experienced spooky things just like me.

So! This was in my parents house a few years ago when I still was living there. My sister had moved out by this time. It's an old old house that has been in my family for well over 100 years & my grandma was even born in this house. My parents' bedroom is downstairs.

Anyway! It was late at night & I'm just reading in bed in my room upstairs. I hear my dad get home, (tax season so they work really late). Then a few minutes later I hear the distinct creaky stuck sound of my sister's bedroom door. (Like I said OLD house so every sound is pretty distinct from other sounds.) I think nothing of this & just wonder, what's he doing upstairs since it's past his old man bedtime? So I go back to reading. A few minutes later I hear the SAME distinct sound of her door handle. Again I wait a minute. I don't hear anyone climbing up or down the steps. But I decide to head downstairs to confirm that my dad WAS home & see what's what. He's in bed watching TV & I mention what happened. He heard the same noises. Same knowledge that that's the only door that makes that sound in the house. And confirmed that he wasn't anywhere upstairs. We were both puzzled. Said at least if it's a ghost it's related to us so hopefully friendly. Never heard it again.
