Is there a decade you would go back to happily live in?

We've been watching a local series of Back in Time for Dinner, I am pretty sure it's been done in other countries before but this family (normal people) have their house remodelled to fit a previous decade for a week and they experience life and food (that's the Dinner part from the title, cooking from recipes provided) and they dress and live in that decade for a week. They only went as far back as the 50's house which was hard for everyone (rations, no technology and car etc) but I think I could stay in the 90's - the music was good (IMHO), clothing was pretty relaxed, frozen peas existed and by the end there was internet, remember the modem sound?! Or maybe the last decade?! How about you?

Not really. I wouldn't want to be a child again -- 70's & 80's -- I don't want to be a public school teacher again -- 90's -- and I loved my babies and toddlers and preschoolers but I'm mostly finding life easier with them being more independent now.

I'm excited about the future though, focusing on the progress and technology that is coming along.

I wouldn't really want to go back to any previous decades to stay, but I think it would be cool to live in several of them for just a week at a time. I'd especially love the 60's and 70's, I am a hippie at heart!

Hmmm...I think it'd be fun to visit like Jan. But I wouldn't want to live there! Especially clothing. I can't imagine wearing lots of layers and heavy clothes in the heat!

Well, being a hippie at heart too, the 60's and 70's. It would be fun to go to San Francisco just to see all of the "flower children".

I like the food and the clothes of the 50's but couldn't imagine living with the chauvinism, the lack of internet or the lack of TV channels and imagine.....no digital camera!!!! No way.

I like the hippie free spirit ways of the 60's and 70's, and the fun wild clothes but couldn't live without all the modern conveniences we have now.

I think I'd have to stay in the here and now b/c with all the bad in this era, there is a lot of good too.

I loved the innocence (or at least PERCEIVED innocence) of the 50s...DooWop music and lack of technology. But I, too, hating myself, would MISS the technology! We inherited DH's parents' 50's "modern" furniture...blond Heywood-Wakefield (Google it!), and LOVE it...even bought more through eBay and other sources, so we have it in almost every room. But to spend a week? It would have to be in the 1970s...our first years of marriage...a wonderful experience in the Army...turning our lives over to Christ...and having our three children. I would pay a thousand dollars just to spend one DAY with my kids when they were little. They were born in 1972, '74, and '78. ....oh for just one day with them at those ages.

Would I have to use a Kodac instamatic camera ? Wear a bri nylon top ? Have only 1 tv channel that I can actually see ? Have dinner parties and serve Fricasee ,or mussels on toast ? Buy coffee by the half pound because it is just so expensive? Wonder what that "new fangled" thing they call a charter holiday really is, and if Majorca really is the only destination one should visit ? If yes to the above, then no thanks 2018 will do for me despite all the weirdness going on.

Loved living in the 80s, it was my time to shine! But really could not go back, love my tech (sadly, how could I live without google), love ease of travel, love variety of food and cultures available to us now, just love my life at the moment.:happydance2

(however, would love to visit time periods, just for a holiday - time travel books are my fav escapism...)
