Want to settle a dispute with me and my hubby? :giggle

He says bunting (as in made with fabric for decorating) looks like it only belongs in the bedroom. I want to make some and put it in our living room. We have neutral walls, floors, and furniture, and I've been bringing color in with pillows/photo canvases, etc. and thought colorful fabric bunting would look great in the living room.

Not that I'll actually let him make the final decision or anything, but feedback? ;)

Um.... I guess I have to go look up what bunting is. LOL! I thought that was like the half circle thingie that people hang from their porch that is red white and blue for 4th of July. BRB. (clearly all my future input will be disregarded given my clear lack of understanding of the topic)

Huh... I guess I always called those banners:

This is what I thought a bunting was: (which apparently this is a bunting too)

but this one is cool for decorating a living space:

I love bunting and it definitely works in the family room. I have a burlap and twine one that hangs in mine during the autumn. Tell Brian he's so wrong. :giggle. But in his defense, I don't think men are wired for bunting expertise. Lol

Thanks Karen for saying what I was thinking! :giggle
I'm no help: I've never seen banners used for home decor, I thought they were for parties and such. They are pretty though!

I think they'd be fun anywhere! Now I think seasonal would be great. Christmas, fall (like Laura said), etc.

And, I need to know how to make it. :D I volunteered (WHY?) to make a few for SIL's baby shower next month.

Ah well I am in the minority who loves bunting (banners) on pages but not all up in my living quarters. Buntings and doilies are not allow to live in my home. HOWEVER, I DO think having them up for holidays or birthdays is OK LOL Love seeing them in stores hanging as decorations and stuff

lol I bought some Australia Day Flag bunting today to hang on the unit railings when we go to the beach :) but I'm no good at interior design sorry so my opinion is useless .... I'm sure whatever you chose will be tasteful Melissa .. you are just that kind of lady :)

I think you'll have to do it and take some photos. That will make for the best answers. ;)

Other than that, I say go for it.

I say go for it as well! There are so many great variations and I just spent nearly an hour browsing ideas.. definitely go for it :)
I love these ones -

And now I need to make some for Ella's room. That is so cute, Jenny!

OK i love the top one. Maybe I might do this for my reading/alone time room LOL
I know hubby will rip down buntings in the main rooms. GAH
