Merry Christmas everyone!

So what time did you wake up for Christmas? We didn’t get up until 8 am, but I remember the days when my kids were young and they would wake up at 4 am and want to see what Santa brought. I quickly nipped that in the bud and got them a clock in their rooms and told them they couldn’t come out until 7 am. I heard Megan get up at 4 am this morning. Thankfully, I’ve trained her well and she stayed in her room and watched a movie on my iPad until 8 am when she came in and jumped in bed with us to wake us up.

How about your house, what time did you wake up for Christmas?

I've actually woken up before my kids most years. I'm the most morning-loving person in my house right now (even though only one of my 3 kids is a true night owl). This year my girls woke up before me, but it was only 8:30. I would have woken up soon anyway.

I am the worst!
3:30am
I am sitting drinking coffee, snapping pictures of the living room. I did bills, (for reals). Balanced out checkbook. Revamped my bullet journal, getting ready to jump into new 2108!
Then at 5:30 one of the kids went the bathroom!
That was enough...I went in and told hubby it was Christmas...he laughed, and said, "we are all gonna be miserable in this afternoon." I said, "I know, can we get up?????:)"
we did! oh it was grand!
My daughter (18), she opened presents and went back to bed until 8:30!
Hubby crashed at 12:30.
My boys are still going strong, and I am gonna tag team with hubs, and go down for an hour.
My other daughter and grand daughter came for lunch and fun!
My son, wife and other grand baby girl will be here tonight.
I am smiling from ear to ear!
We have a tradition of 3pm eating at Sonic on Christmas (It is the only fast food place opened).
Grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup on the stove, for munching.

I was up at 5 a.m. as usual with the dogs. I spent a couple of quiet hours with my coffee with the tree lights on and the blinds open, alternating between watching it snow, and A Christmas Story. Bliss! :)

Me and hubby woke up at 7ish then the kids that are at home, Mark got up first then Brian, at 10:30 we yelled for both Kurt and Emma to get up!!! Turns out they stayed up till 4am! LOL

Dogs woke a little earlier but I asked them to go back to sleep and they did. I woke at 9. I was out of coffee so my sweet daughter ran out and got me my mocha from starbucks. While she was out, I got the traditional cinnamon rolls ready. Santa brought a couple books to read from our favorite independent book store. Her brother was out of town so we took some photos and then opened presents. Merry Christmas!!

Pup dog woke me at 7:30am (she doesn't observe weekends or holidays) but at least she decided we didn't need to walk today. I took the "I am up first and the rest of of you are still sleeping" photos (a Christmas morning tradition at our house). Second son got up at 8:30 and helped me clean up the kitchen (late night baking project - dd made stollen for her grandpa). I also vacuumed, cleaned the bathroom and generally picked up. Son and I had breakfast and at 9:30 made the rest of the family get up. We did a slow opening of gifts and were still at it when my parents arrived at noon.

Rest of the day was dinner, birthday presents for dd, and hanging with family. Now we are enjoying our gifts or just relaxing. Traveling to the in-laws tomorrow for round 2 of Christmas.

Hope everyone had a great day!

I got to skype with my son this afternoon! It was the so awesome and the perfect Christmas gift ever! Now, I can’t wait for Mother’s Day when he gets to call again.

No children at home, no pets, so when dh gets up at his normal 5am, I happily stay in bed as long as I like. Today, I went down and got a cuppa tea at 7am and went right back to bed until 9am! I didn't get out of jammies until 1pm. And only because the temps kept dropping! leggings and a sweat shirt and a lot of reading. Merry Christmas to all!

I'm the morning person around here. I have been a mom for 27 years and there has never been one Christmas where the kids woke me up haha. They are all amazing sleepers, even on Christmas. This year I was up at 6:30, got showered and had coffee, snapped some photos in the peace and quiet, and finally around 8 DH came down and I woke up the 12 year old.

Our big thing is Christmas Eve. We had Church in the morning and then came home to wait for our kids to start arriving. One of our sons and his family were here from Idaho and came in the afternoon to visit for a couple hours. It was sooooo good to see them again and we had such a fun time. Then our son who lives closer to us and his family came for our Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange game. Which was also wonderful. Lots of good food and fun for all of us. After they left we stayed up watching Christmas movies and reading and just doing our own thing until after midnight. This morning my Honey and I woke up around 9 AM or so. He got up and had breakfast and I just rested a while longer. We just had a very lazy morning until our daughter got up and came downstairs to open gifts around 10:45. We started by reading from Luke 2, and then took our time opening the gifts. It has been a wonderful two days. Very peaceful and sweet. Something that I needed very badly. I loved the time with our kids most of all. That was the very best part of our Christmas this year.

Ok, slightly embarrassed here, 10:15 was our wake up time...:giggle

In our defence, we had an overnight flight from Tokyo on the 23rd and spent Christmas eve at Sydney airport waiting for our last flight home ( a very long day!!) Still on Japanese time (only two hours difference) so i guess we can claim 8:15am. But the sleep was wonderful...:tree

We have a rule about no leaving your room before 7:30am as well {& we had to learn to specify that changing their room clocks to 7:31am when its really earlier than that by Australian Eastern Standard time will not do them any favours] & we also do breakfast & teeth before presents too. Breakfast can drag out (DD is sloooow anytime of the day] & they were distracted by cartoons as well but if we did gift opening first, no way we'd make it to xmas lunch- they still weren't ready to leave for MILs by 10:30

I have a strict rule in this house that no children are allowed to "bother" me until 8am....and I was a mean mom and kept that rule for Christmas day. And actually no children woke up earlier than normal so it was all good!
