so on Thursday I am going to get a new book but I have a kabillion on my wishlist so not sure where to start. What are you all enjoying lately

I just finished The Thirteenth Tale and it was good. super engaging and suspenseful though a bit creepy. and I finally made it through The Help. I struggled for some reason...probably cause of all the hype. lol

I am in the mood for something lighter or fluffier. maybe YA type stuff. what about you guys? I know there are lots of readers here!

hmm how about the new shopaholic one i need to read that,i just finished hunger games trilogy which to be honest i got bored with but carried on i started The Room but im finding it hard to understand because as its supposed to be written through the child the text is exactly that way but maybe i was just to tired i did go back and start it again and may be doing the same again good job i havent got far

i just tore through the last 2 Harry Potter books again over the weekend. (Well, the last one over the weekend... no way I could ever have read them BOTH in 3 days, lol). I love those books! Not sure that's everyone's cup of tea though.

I started reading them all again in the last few weeks, waiting (im)patiently for the movie, lol. I'm almost finished with book 6, then just 7 to read in the next week.

So I'll be watching this thread for ideas on what to read when I'm done :)

If you're looking for a good YA book, try Durable Goods or Joy School by Elizabeth Berg. I loved both of these. They are loosely a series, but she wrote Durable Goods first and then went back and wrote Joy School which happens first. I could have those two mixed around but my point is, you can read them in either order and they are both really good. There is also a third one... But i can't remember the name off the top of my head. Anyway, I read those first and then started reading other books by her and I've loved all of them!

thanks for the info!! Sara has been trying to get me to read the HP books, but i haven't caved yet. lol! I am going to look up these mentioned! xoxo!

i just read Harris and Me by Gary Paulsen.
read it in 2 days...but it could EASY be read in 2 hours.
(it was a busy 2 days!)

the book was HILARIOUS!!!!!
i laughed the entire time!!!
it's a young adult (my fave reads lately)

it totally reminded me of my dad as a boy growing up on a farm.
i could totally picture him doing these exact things as these 2 boys!

a DEFINITE read...
at it to YOUR list!!!

Fallen is a good YA book. Torment is the second one in the series. I read Fallen in about a day.

I also just stared the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series and love it so far. Dark Lover is the first.

I tried to reread Harry Potter a month or so ago and just couldn't get into it. But I loved them the first time. For me I just have to be in the right mood for books.

it took me a long time to cave too. i tend to stay away from trendy stuff, and just didn't like all the hype around Harry Potter. BUT i will say that as soon as i caved, i was hooked. they are super well written, and rather entertaining. you end up investing a lot in them emotionally by the time you get through the books. great reading.

and lizzy, yes i'm right there with you impatiently waiting for the movie. i REALLY hope they stay true to the book. we'll see.

not a ya book but I have been reading Anthony Bourdains Kitchen Confidential. It's really opened my eyes as to what goes on behind those swinging kitchen doors at a restaurant!

I already told Crystal about the Grace series, which I loved! I just read Hush Hush and it was really good!! I'm about to start Crescendo which is book 2 and there is another coming out, not sure when.

I LOVED Harry Potter and have also tried to get Crystal to read them :) Some day, she will listen :td

oohh ive read hush hush didnt realise till half way up there is a follow up to it must get round to reading the next one

ive never read the harry potters and have only caught bits of the films dunno if i fancy them even tho every one says how good they are

Have you read any of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich? I think there are at least 16 out there at this point. I am reading #5 now and there are times I am laughing out loud. They are quick, easy, and entertaining.

I read the entire Black Dagger Brotherhood series. My family jokingly calls them my "vampire porn"! lol

Crystal....you haven't read HP? OMGosh...definitely read them!!

Only books i get to read usually start with once upon a time... LOL No time to read here unfortunately. Maybe in about 5 years?

oh Katrina you can read if I can do it! :p You just have to decide you aren't going to sleep for a couple days. lol!!!

I know I know...about HP. I told Sara if she will read Twilight I will read HP. teehee!!

We will see! :p I am totally contrary though and like to go against the grain. lol

I totally get you on this. I'm not a follower, at least when it comes to books, I'm super picky. In fact, I know this won't win me any friends, by I despise the Twilight books (I did read them).

But Harry Potter is in a class all it's own. I worked for a book store when books 2, 3, & 4 came out, and I have to say you can't get any more annoyed with the hype than that, staying up till 4 in the morning making sure every kid and their mom in town had a copy of the book. But when I finally read them after 4 came out, I was totally hooked. They are without a doubt, the best books written, in any genre, in the 2000s. With no question in my mind.

I hope you give them a chance!!
