Today is National Shelfie Day — to celebrate, book lovers arrange their collections in pleasing ways, on a shelf or stacked, or displayed and take photographs. Bookstores and libraries often have shelfie displays. If you get a chance maybe you’ll spot one today.

Do you have a pile of physical books?
Do you have them tucked away on a bookshelf somewhere or any displayed prominently?
Do you think you might participate in shelfie day? By taking a photo? or heading out to a bookstore or library?

Not so much since I downsized and moved almost 5 years ago. I still have some tucked in my “office” room that never gets used except for laundry. I have a few offerings for my grandson too. Those are looking for a better home.

Perhaps later today, I might see which ones I’ve hung on to that might make a nice grouping for a photo, or maybe I’ll capture the current kid’s section rotation.

About 10 years ago, I found that I was “reading” almost exclusively by audiobook and I got rid of the vast majority of my books. If the library offered it in audiobook form, I wishlisted it there and got rid of the hard copy. I still have some books that are my favorites, that are reference books or that aren’t available in audio but the camera collection is slowly taking over.

I hope I can rewrite this before anyone reads it. I was deleting the quoted text and didn't realize I'd deleted some of my own text as well. Darn it.

Well, I love to read and always have a pile of library books on the corner of my desk, so this thread inspired me to take a photo . . . and then even make a scrapbook page, because I'm on Snow Day 3.

Now if you're talking about books I own, I have hundreds. Many of them are standing up properly in bookcases, but some of them are in piles. They're in my basement, my bedroom, and my home office.

I will call this my participation in Shelfie Day. :D

I love that you made a page out of your photo! Sometimes I miss the feel of the physical books, but I find it just so much easier to read on my kindle these days with my old eyes.

OMG I love this case and your camera collection!

Do you have a pile of physical books? I do have a bunhc of books still, but I never read paper books anymore, so I've been slowly getting rid of them. I read almost exclusively on my Kindle since I read at bedtime and having a light on keeps my hubby awake. The Kindle is a good compromise. I have one zillion of my kids' book though and I'm keeping those in hopes that my grandkids can use them!

Do you have them tucked away on a bookshelf somewhere or any displayed prominently? I have some in my living room on my bookshelves, and a bunch in a huge set of shelves in the basement.

Do you think you might participate in shelfie day? By taking a photo? or heading out to a bookstore or library? I probably won't take a photo today, but I always love looking at displays of books at bookstores or libraries.

No pile right now as I seldom read physical books these days. I mostly read on my Kindle.

Their on a bookshelf in my office.

Well, I'm definitely not heading out...too cold and icy...but I might take a photo. I haven't scrapped my books for awhile :)

We have 22 Billys from IKEA (some of them with extra shelves) full with books. Probably more if I were to check all the house for stray book piles.

We love books in this house.

No.

I didn’t go to a bookstore or library today, but I did organize the books by our front door recently! Mostly kids’ school yearbooks.

Organizing books can be an art.

I love physical books, but I too have found myself doing most of my "reading" via Audible these days. It is just more convenient because I can listen while cleaning, scrapping, in the shower, etc. I read on Kindle a little, but those ones always take me WAY longer to finish. I have been itching to buy some physical books just because I love them, but have decided to wait till after we move - no need to add more possessions to my already full home before that!

Do you have them tucked away on a bookshelf somewhere or any displayed prominently? All books in my house are on bookshelves. There is a bookshelf in the living room full of books. I have books on a bookshelf in the guest bedroom. I have a bookshelf full of books in my craft room/office. There are shelves in my dining room and I have a few books that I purchased on my vacations on one of them. And, some very special books are on the top of the upright piano. My mom collected books on JFK and one of them is too tall for any bookshelf so it has lived on the piano since 1964 along with some other really old books. My mom was an ardent reader and my dad did a lot of reading after he retired (he read newspapers and magazines before he retired) and they passed that along to me. I go in spurts with my reading these days not necessarily reading every day.

I've gotten rid of books over the years but still have a lot. I do most of my reading on my Kindle but once in awhile I enjoy reading a physical book and have gotten into reading books about the places I have visited. One was about a Coast Guard rescue off of Cape Cod in 1952.

Do you think you might participate in shelfie day? By taking a photo? or heading out to a bookstore or library? Even though I'm heading out to go to the pharmacy and grocery, no stops at the library or bookstore (none in my town anyways).

This is the only pile I have left after downsizing 7 years ago. I only keep the books I want to read, as soon as they are read, they go in the pile for donation. I was doing a lot of reading on Kindle, but I decided to try audible, and now I'm on my 3rd book in a couple of weeks, so I do like that I'm using my commute time for something I really want in my life, more stories!

I have a Life magazine featuring JFK that was in my mom's possession when she passed. It feels like a fragile treasure that I don't want to damage. I should look into some kind of framing for it.

Hey, I like your "shelfie"

Do you have a pile of physical books? I do! I mainly listen to audiobooks now but I prefer a "book book". I just have trouble putting it down once I pick one up so audiobooks help me multitask instead! I read physical books at the airport, appointments or when I can't get an audiobook in when I want it.

Scattered haphazardly throughout my built ins!

I spent the day catching up on sleep after an exhausting, but exhilarating Disney trip! No shopping or reading for me!
