so i need beach reads for hawaii! woot!

i've read time traveler's wife, all the jodi piccoult books, memory keeper's daugther

a friend has suggested the shopoholic series...

what say you?

um...twilight. then you could read New Moon. Then Maybe Eclipse. And then you might like Breaking Dawn. And then you might like to read Twilight...and then Twilight...and have a pic of Edward to look at as you read Twilight again.

You get the picture! :luvya

I've been reading tons...some of my favorite (lighter) books from the past year:

-fun british chic lit (usually single women restoring old houses), check out anything by Katie Fforde
-"The Summer Kitchen" by Lisa Wingate (anything by her)
-Marisa de los Santos "Love Walked In" and "Belong to Me"
-"Kissing Games of the World" by Sandi Kahn Shelton

I think any Shophie Kinsella's shopaholic books would be great. Her books are really fun to read.

Kristin Hannah has a similar style to Jodi Picoult. I picked up a few of hers in the wide paperback format at Costco.

i just finished mercy by jodi picoult it kept me reading but i think i could of quite easily ditched it half way through, ive been browsing a bit to much lately to find new reads for my ereader and have come across these that are light reading and sophie kinsella style

Meg Cabbot
Jennifer Weiner

I loved all these books and think they'd be great vacation reads:

I LOVE Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (15 books so far) starts with "One for the Money"
"Thanks for the Memories" Cecelia Ahern
"Sammy's Hill" Kristen Gore (followed by "Sammy's House")
"Love Walked In" Marisa de los Santos
"Beach Road" James Patterson

The main character in the Shopaholic series annoys me, but I've read them. They're good light reads. I agree with the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich - there's vague sexual references in there, but it's not graphic or anything. More like innuendo, from what I remember. They're really fun, fast reads. I just started "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown last night, which isn't light at all and (if history has taught me anything) will be totally blasphemous. LOL But after that I'm going to read "Last Night in Twisted River" by John Irving and then "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" by Seth Grahame-Smith & Jane Austen.

My new goal of 25 books for 2010 started on the 1st! Last year I did 40. Woot!

Oh thank goodness, someone else feels the way I do. I could barely get through the first Shopaholic book (although I loved the movie) because I was so frustrated with the main character. I mean almost throw the book out the window mad! LOL!

i'm very curious about pride and prejudice and zombies! seen it a few times in the book store.

thanks for all y'alls suggestions. i think i'm going to pass on the shopaholic books bcuz i've seen the movie and yeah i hate doing that.

Pride and Prejudice is the best book of all time!! Anything by Jane Austen is divine. lol!

I enjoyed A Tree Grows in Brooklyn too. :)

I read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins over Christmas and now have the second book on its way to me. It's YA fiction and a fast, but interesting read.

yep another vote for Jane Austen...though I haven't read many of them yet

i picked up 'water for elephants' and 'peace like a river'.

i've been warned i have to scurry through one part in WFE - but then tones down. i picked up two others at the thrift store .95! can't remember the titles right now, tho. i

i think i'm set!

on a sad note. the borders near me is closing. just that one. not enough traffic apparently. sniff.

That's about how I felt, too. Several times I set the book down and swore I wasn't going to finish it. I just didn't like her. (I didn't like the movie either, though .. LOL Just watched it last weekend and we almost shut it off, but I persevered) I still want to finish the Shopaholic series, I have the rest of the books - I only read the first two, then wanted to track her down and beat her with the book. I always feel this insane need to finish a series, though.

I never read the original book (or any Jane Austen, that I know of) but I've had so many people tell me the Zombies book is great, so I figure I'll give it a whirl. LOL

I absolutely ADORED Water for Elephants. I gave it to Tom's SIL when she was up in November and she loved it, too. I told her I hadn't expected to like it, because the synopsis on the book didn't do much for me. She felt the same way when I handed it to her, but when I saw her two weeks ago she said she loved it, too. I'm wondering now which part you're supposed to scurry through. The problem with reading so many books is that now I only have vague memories of them. Haha.
