I loved the Twilight series, especially since I could share them with my tween girls. I'm a fan of the Sookie series too, but I've found a couple of other series that I think I love even more. The main characters are bad-a** ladies with special abilities of their own. I have read them at least twice and will probably read them again. I'd buy them in a heartbeat if I found a good package deal on the books that are out. :beat

Warnings: While the stories are not for the young teenage set romantically, they aren't quite as raunchy as the Sookie books. Violence is not held back in them, but isn't super graphic.

The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
#1 Moon Called
#2 Blood Bound
#3 Iron Kissed
#4 Bone Crossed
#5 Silver Borne

spinoff series from Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs- Alpha and Omega
-Werewolf based storyline. Main character is a werewolf herself.
first part of the series is a short story in the collection 'On the Prowl'.
#1 Cry Wolf
#2 Hunting Ground

Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost - my latest find ;)
Main character Cat is half-vampire and has made it her personal mission to rid the world of those nasty vamps.
#1 Halfway to the Grave
#2: One Foot in the Grave
#3: At Grave's End
#4: Destined For an Early Grave
-short story that fits in after book 4 found in this anthology with Charlaine Harris, Death Goes on Vacation (which also happens to have a Sookie short story in it, if you read those).

spinoff books with stories about characters in the main series:
First Drop of Crimson - takes place shortly after book 4.
Queen of the Night - takes place after above book, I think. (It's waiting for me at the library right now LOL)
