Book Club schedule

ooooh! i want to read here be dragons too! but i'm in the middle/beginning of game of thrones - far enough in that i want to keep going, but not far enough to be close to being done. :( i will definitely be reading that at some time in the future though.

I've just started Here Be Dragons - hoping I'll finish in time for mid-September. Rebecca - we won't set a date until after the August chat.

I think I'll get a head start on Here Be Dragons too! :) I hope I enjoy it as much as I enjoyed The Bronze Horseman!

I have Here Be Dragons too. I just need to finish another book so that I can get started.

I need to finish the 2nd book of the Bronze Horseman then I'll start Here Be Dragons. :)

man I missed the last polls! I have read the help so I can chatter at least! I am not sure if I am interested in the book thief or not...I don't do sad well...

LOL Dang it, I downloaded the book for this month and then promptly forgot about it. I suck at this. LOL

This month we're reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett - a discussion thread will be opened this Friday, so stop by if you've read the book! I really loved it!

I love november's choice!! November: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
I have this book here and never give it a try, maybe it's time now!! =)

Ummm...I still haven't finished Here Be Dragons...from September! lol. I started it and I just got stuck. I couldn't get into it. AT. ALL. Does it move faster the farther in you get? Maybe I need to give it another try now.

I had a really hard time reading Here Be Dragons too. I didn't hate the book and actually thought it was very good, but I never read more than 30 pages at a time because of the Welsh names and I couldn't keep straight how much time had passed between chapters, etc. I did finally finish it, but it took me two months to do it! :)

I liked Here Be Dragons so much that I've another 6 books from Sharon Key Penman: the next 2 books in the Welsh Princes series (Here Be Dragons, Falls the Shadow, the Reckoning), the Sunne In Splendor (about King Richard III and the war of the Roses), and partway through her Plantagenet Series (King Henry II and his queen Eleanor of Aquaitaine: When Christ and His Sants slept about the war between King Stephen and Empress Maude from whom he stole the crown, and since our library doesn't have the 2nd, I'm reading the 3rd of the series called Devil's Brood).

I think the general consensus was that reading Penman's novels on a tablet was too difficult because you need the ability to flip back and forth between the maps, hierarchical charts, and chapter dates to reorient yourself in time/space as you read her series.

It's funny that Dec is "The Time Travelers Wife" becuz that's what I'm reading now. I guess I got lucky lol.
