So glad these look fun to you! You'll have to let me know if you end up buying one of these for Christmas!

Ohhhh Munchkin is our family favorite. We have almost all the expansion packs too. LOL. It took us an entire night (as in hours) just to figure out how to play and even after years of playing we still have to stop a lot to look up rules.

Another one we all love is Dominion - super fun!! There are expansions for that one too (in fact, we HAD to actually buy one of the expansions for our whole family to be able to play, it's just a four person game without the expansion).

I've not played Dominion but I have played quite a few deckbuilding games including Trains which I've heard described as Dominion with a board and trains. Super fun game. We also have Thunderstone which is another deckbuilding game that I really enjoy.

We play Pandemic - to be honest, it kills my daughter (now nearly 19) to be cooperative - makes it so funny to watch her struggle with not dominating the game.

My eldest recently was given the WW1 based Board game but apparently the games last for hours so saving that for a wet weekend...

I know the wife of the guy who designed Smash Up! :-)

I'll have to check out the suggestions for possible Christmas presents. We love games. We don't play anything too out of the ordinary though... Ratuki, Phase 10, Apples to Apples, Clue... oh and Pit (any excuse to yell).

oh these look so fun! my kids are still too young for these - but i'm making notes for when they are older :)

Axis and Allies? My husband just bought that one but we've never played.

How cool is that. We have Guillotine by him as well. Bought it about 15 years ago..lol. You live in Chicago right? There are a couple of board game stores in the suburbs that we loved going to and they both have decent open box libraries that you can try before you buy. Fair Game in Downer's Grove and Wandering Dragon in Plainfield. Both are wonderful stores, owned by very friendly people. Fair Game has even started holding learn to play board game events (It costs money but I believe you are given back the fee in store credit).

How old are your kids? I plan on doing more of these types of posts in the upcoming months.
