Board Games for Two Players

Those Matcha and Resistor_ games look really interesting. I think I might order them!

Does Mancala count as a board game? Miller and I have been playing one game a day since summer vacation started.

Cribbage is another game that has a board, but I'm not sure if it is a "board game." I have always loved playing Cribbage, but mostly just play on my phone. I think it is a bit too much for a 9 year old, and my husband never has time.

Another one we play (it can have more players, but you can do it with 2) is Enchanted Forest. https://www.amazon.com/Ravensburger...971639&ref=pd_sl_7ogkk2e88q_b&tag=googhydr-20

I always loved Mastermind. :)

We just bought Kennedy the Secret Lives of Pets board game. It is a two-person game that has you trying to place cards to make it home, and the other person is placing cards to thwart that effort and/or block you from reaching home. It is kind of cute and he was excited about trying to thwart my efforts, but it was just a little bit old for him. He's not into "strategy" so much yet. :giggle

My husband loves board games so he's been trying to get more 2 player games for those special times I agree to play a game with him :). I'll have to share this list with him since there's several I don't recognize. 7 Wonders Duel is awesome and I love Blockus. I like games I can win at:giggle

We just played Memoir 44 last night (WW2 game) and even though I'm not fond of war games, this one was simple enough for me to follow. All the actions are card based, and it's pretty much move or shoot. No worrying about unit stats or complicated details.

He loves the Ticket to Ride series, which isn't specifically for 2 players, but that's fun too. It's about building train routes through the US or other countries. He brought it when we took a train trip from CA to CO and a little kid was fascinated and wanted to play with us.

Lost Cities is a card game for 2 people - trying to collect a sequence of cards for your cities but if the other person takes them, that blocks you from finishing yours. Jhaipur is another card game, more about trading. We had fun flooding the market with camels haha!

Loving these ideas. We play a lot of games so this is a great thread. We play sorry, Tic Tac Two, & Touring a lot.

@sarahbhb you mentioned a game in another blog post and we just played it tonight! It's Dimension. We got it in the mail today. I was going to give it to DD for her bday, but with the summer upon us, I figured it would be better to give it to her now to help when summer boredom creeps up. I'm sure DH and I will play it, just the 2 of us.

And as others have mentioned, we play cribbage. We also love Boggle. Or rather, I love Super Boggle because I love words, and DH plays against me cuz he loves competition. There's also Blokus. Oh, and Apples to Apples and Bananagrams and Scrabble. (More word games. Yeah, I like words!) Recently some friends introduced us to Qwirkle and we've been loving that, too. But these are all games you can play with more than 2 players, so IDK if they count as "two player games"? :huh

We love Blockus & Qwirkle. BTW- we have a blind friend that plays Blockus. She memorizes where her shapes are and then lightly feels where others are. She is pretty good. She also plays cards if they have been Brailled for her.

We play good, old-fashioned Rummy, Skip-Bo, and Uno with just 2 players a lot. Dominos are fun too!

Scrabble, Mastermind. My girls enjoy playing Connect Four - old school, I know! :) Spot It also works with 2 players.

I love games, so I will have to look into these. There are not a lot of opportunities for 2 player games, the kids always want to play, but when it is just the hubs and I we tend to stick to Rummy, dominoes, and uno!

Oh my gosh Carol! How wonderful! And what a great list of games.

Really loving the input on this thread. There are a few of these that I have yer to try.

We've recently obtained Battle Lore and Commands and Colors...both use the same system as Memoir '44, but I have yet to play either.

Suspend is sooo much fun. I've seen some pretty high structures.

We've had Blokus for forever..it hardly ever hits the table anymore, but my daughter just listed it as one of her favorite games that we own so I guess I need to play again with her soon.

I'm loving these blog posts!

Love Blokus! We need to get the travel version.

My kids love Chess and Checkers. Classics.

Spot It is a fun game to play with little kids and you can have anywhere from 2 to probably 6 players.

Liz, the travel version is only for 2 people, but you have the same amount of tiles I believe.

There is also a travel Sequence version. It is for only 2 players.
