Help! My daughter's 7th birthday is coming up next month and I'd like to think of some fun party ideas to give to her so she doesn't just say she wants another dog party (she's already had two LOL). I'm hoping I can convince her to have a little friends-only party. What do you think some fun themes would be? Just fyi, she's NOT a real girly-girl. No princesses.

One idea I had was to do a spa/pampering party ... what else?

I'm planning on having a rainbow-themed party for DD this summer. Simple, but fun and so easy to color-coordinate/scrap! :giggle

There are TONS of ideas on Pinterest if you do a search for rainbows (or you can just go to my Pinterest board here: http://pinterest.com/leeandra/miss-monkey-s-marvels/), but basically, I'm going to have color-coordinated fruits and veggies in a rainbow shape (of course!), individual-sized rainbow cakes in jars, and lots of fun streamers, etc. Since hers will be in August, I'm going to have activities like bubble-blowing and chalk drawing, making rainbow suncatchers, rainbow pinata (maybe! *lol*), but since your DD is older, you could do much more involved crafty rainbow-themed things like friendship bracelets and tiedye shirts. Depending on how many kids you'll have over, Oriental Trading might have some fun crafts you can coordinate.

HTH!

I don't have kids but I just had an idea. What if you did a make over type thing with hair and nails and maybe a little make up and tried to do something where you take nice photos. There used to be a place near my house that did that and the girls loved it. You could try to make it really glamorous. Maybe have some boas, scarfs, or fancy hats they could wear. For a goody bag you could pick up inexpensive frames from the dollar store and then your daughter could give each friend a photo when they are developed. Maybe it would be too girly for her I don't know. Just a thought.

If she likes Harry Potter, I've seen some great ideas for Harry Potter or magic type parties.

We did a book party last month for my 7 year old. She had all of her friends bring a favorite book and we read them together. I also talked to them about writing books and they each wrote and illustrated a book. They each got a library card when they walked in and I punched the card when we finished activities. One of the activities was decorating a book mark. I'll have to post pictures on my blog so you can see.

Last year we did an art party and it was so fun!!

A friend of mine just had a Rock Star Party for her lil' girl! They went to a place that does hair, makeup, and nails and then she had celebrity cutouts standing along a wall and they had a photographer take their pictures glammin' it up. They girls had a wonderful time and then went back to the house for cake, ice cream, & presents in a Rock Star theme. It was fun!

I love the spa party and the book party, how fun! I hate having parties at my house (too much cleaning LOL) so I always plan parties at places. We have done bowling alley, swimming pool, jungle gym place and Chuck e Cheese (ick) and this year I'm trying to convince her to do a Build a Bear party for a couple of her little friends instead of having a big party somewhere else :)

Jenna's 7th birthday is next month too! Twins! We are doing a FAIRY party. I bought fairy wings from the dollar store last October. Ordered glitter crowns and wands from orientaltrading. She wants to dance. I thought it'd be cute for them to dress up and dance. For crafts. We will make tissue paper flowers. And I bought some wooden dolls. Added hearts for wings and will cut out felt crowns. I'm going to let them paint them. Then i'll glue the crowns on. I bought flower cupcake paper holders and will attach them to a string of white lights. I will make extra tissue flowers for decor. The girls will decorate their own cocakes and then go home. The party will only be 1.5 hours. I can't go longer than that! LOL happy birthday tiana!!! She's getting SO big!!

Jacque, I know! Remember when they were so little at the pumpkin patch? Awww. She had a fairy party for her fourth birthday and it was SO much fun.

Love all these other ideas! Keep 'em coming!

awwwwwwwwww!!! I have pics somewhere too. That was a fun day! Man - that was a long time ago. LOL

A friend of mine recently had an owl party for her daughter based on this blog. :) I want to have my own owl party! LOL!

Rebecca, how funny! That's the one theme I'm leaning towards the most because my DD is such a little artist. She is being ornery, however, and is wanting some weird stuff. I'm hoping I can change her mind. HAHAHA
