One of the things I read about the revival of Gilmore Girls was the producers didn't want all the episodes released at once. They wanted them spaced out, so people wouldn't binge watch it.

It got me and my husband talking about the binge watch problem. Any quirks that a character has are highlighted when you watch multiple episodes in a row. We can't do more than 2 of any show in a row. Even our much loved Simpsons, or our current show i, Zombie. Any more than 2, and we really start getting annoyed with the characters, and/or ignoring the show.

How about you? Do you love to binge watch? Do you find you dislike a show once you start binging? Or do you love it more when you watch them all in a row?

I will binge watch something every now and then. I did it with Stranger Things. But that only happens like once or twice a year and only if it's like a one season thing. I tried to do it with The Walking Dead about 3 seasons in because everyone I knew was talking about it, but I think I made it through like 3 episodes. I'm just not much of a tv watcher at all and can barely make it through one 30-min episode of anything.

2 episodes in one sitting is about my limit, the exceptions are Parks and Recreation (I can watch entire seasons in a night) and Archer, rude but funny...

Yes! I do love Parks and Recreation! I forgot about that one. I have binge watched it a couple of times.
And I will add The Office. Love that one and DH has had it on binge watching many times.

I am watching Gilmore Girls now, about 2 episodes at a time , because that's all I have time for. But "binge watch" to me means that's all you're watching, so I still consider myself binge watching it. I do binge watch most things. I watch TV so little, I can't really keep track of too many shows at once. lol

I am a total binge watcher! I love being able to just watch the next show when there's a cliffhanger! :giggle Plus, I don't watch very much TV. The only time I really watch TV is when I plan on sitting in front of the computer for a few hours to scrap or do something else and I want something on for background noise. I mostly binge watch a series when I start a new crochet project though. I can't just sit and crochet... I MUST watch something. :)

I did that with the X-files and Gilmore Girls last year when I made my last big blanket.

I'm like a lot of you ... not a huge TV watcher but the ability to binge watch series shows has me more interested in TV than ever before. I am about a 2 episode at a max kind of girl too. Especially the longer than 30 minutes shows. "Binge watching" for me is the fact that I can watch 1 or maybe 2 episodes each night before bed, instead of waiting a week for the next episode ... or a year for the next season! I often lose interest in a show after 1 season ... so this helps me stay focused. I think it has made more of a TV watcher.

@Karen - my 15 yr old daughter is binge watching X files. It has been going on for the past month. It gets irritating because she will watch 2 or 3 in a row (every day) for weeks straight ... and nothing else & she takes over the family room TV! I loved Gilmore Girls back in the day. Maybe I need to get her hooked on Gilmore Girls and we can watch them together! Loved Lauren Graham in Parenthood too.

I don't binge watch on my own often. There are occasions where everyone is out of town over a weekend and I'll pick a show to binge watch. But that rarely happens.

My son LOVES to binge watch stuff. We have a few things we will/have binge watched together. Last one was Stranger Things. I think we pretty much watched that whole season start to finish in one day.

My husband is not a binge watcher, but discovered Hunting Hitler on the History Channel last week. We binged watched season one and what there is so far of season two over Thanksgiving weekend. That one was annoying since so much of each episode is recap of what they found last episode and previewing what they'll discover in the next. So much repetition!

Although I don't technically binge watch things by myself. I do regularly find a marathon of shows to put on as my background noise during the day. I don't really watch at all, so it has to be something I've seen before or something that's easy to walk away from so it's not too much of a distraction. Just noise in the quiet house (and never before lunch for some reason). There's almost always a marathon of Law & Order SVU on some channel, and if it's not that, I can usually find American Pickers, Chopped or something like that to just have on.

I've done it a few times, but not often. In general, I don't watch TV because I just don't have the time for it. I'd rather scrap, so that's what I do instead. I must admit that I did just binge Season 3 of Fixer Upper, hoping some of her style would rub off on me as I reorganize and deep clean my house...

I wish I could, but I can't. Time, and ability to watch that many shows doesn't really work. I don't have huge blocks of time to dedicate to watching TV. I used to watch so much, but then Sandy hit... wiped out our power for 2 weeks, and erased my shows on my DVR. I never started back up.

When I am sick home, I will occasionally watch a few TV shows back to back, but rarely, only since I know I don't have the time or want to watch that much TV normally, there isn't much use of me getting started on a new series.

This is me too... background noise. :)

I've binge-watched:
1. (first time ever) Supernatural (seasons 1-10, most of June 2014)

2. Sherlock (using Kristina's definition because it was the only thing I was watching; it actually took several weeks last summer)

3. Stranger Things (a Friday & Saturday a few weekends ago)

I think binge-watching is awesome and I think I should include Netflix in my 30 Days of Gratitude scrapbook layout I'm currently working on. :D I just don't do it much because in general I haven't ever cared much for t.v.

I'm pretty sure binge-watching made it more likely for me to become a fan of Supernatural. The first two seasons are heavier on the monster-of-the-week horror before the family-love story arc gets strong. If I'd had to wait 2 years for that I probably wouldn't have been a fan of the show.

And I love that I could watch something like Stranger Things so quickly so I could learn what the mystery was! I binge read books like that. Hmm, come to think of it, I've been binge reading books all my life, on and off. :)

binge watcher from youtube here!! that darn Brittish Bake Off! loved it!! and now my addiction to British shows...the have obsessive compulsive cleaners go to a hoarders home to clean and organize...pure amazing! I will have it on a little tiny screen on the 2nd puter...and listen and every once and while look to see the box. hilarious!

I'm a BINGE WATCHER... that's the only way I like TV. I don't like to have to wait a week or more to see what's going to happen next. I also hate it when Xfinity skips eposides. That's happened to me with NCIS and some others that I like. I have been binge watching that this year to catch up on all the seasons I missed before I found the show.

I DVR all the shows I watch, so I can skip the commercials and get to the good stuff. I usually watch 2 or 3 episodes while I clean the great room, fold clothes, wash dishes, sort mail, etc. I always like to have something on while I'm eating lunch too. I guess I like the noise on so I don't feel like I'm eating alone when everyone's at work and school.

I do have to admit that I've been known to marathon BINGE watch on occassion and will spend 3 or 4 hours binge-ing on my favorite shows when I have the place to myself or just need a break. Right now, I've been hooked on the Holiday baking championships and Pure Genius. I had 4 episodes of Pure Genius DVR'd that I watched the other day between doctor visits when I wasn't feeling well and just needed to rest on the couch. Love that show BTW and wish that Bunkerhill Hospital really existed so I could get rid of this pain that's been driving me nuts.

I love to binge watch. Actually look forward to it when a new season of something comes out (The Walking Dead!!)

I have binge watched Dexter, Parenthood, Arrested Development, The Walking Dead, Making a Murderer, Stranger Things, How I Met Your Mother, Parks and Recreation, and now we're watching Last Man Standing.

Not all my binges are in one sitting. Most are not. They're just what we'll watch when we sit down to watch TV at the end of the night if there's nothing else on. But I did watch the entire first season of Dexter in one day. And I'm sure I did the same thing with The Walking Dead. Most of the time I just have the shows on as background noise when I'm scrapbooking for the night...

There are so many other binge worthy shows I want to start - Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Mad Men, House of Cards...

She can come and watch it with me. LOL. I go through streaks where I'll watch just like her until I get through all of them. :giggle

I usually end up watching on my tablet though because Kennedy takes up one tv and Tim takes up the other. If I can't go upstairs, I watch X-Files in the kitchen on the tablet while I cook/clean.

I'm binge watching Broadchurch right now... when I am at home and get time to myself. I binged on The Fall last month. I like to binge watch because I don't watch that much tv, so when I find something I like, I enjoy watching it straight through. My hubby and I will binge watch Bosch when that is on, but I have a hard time keeping Tim awake, so the bingeing isn't as satisfying. The only time I don't like binge watching is when I get to the end and have to wait for the next season. :giggle

I rarely binge watch anything and max out at two episodes a sitting. I did start on Gray's Anatomy while DH was away skiing last week and am hoping to get him interested in Suits.

We DVR the shows we like to watch. I'm more inclined to binge watch because so many shows these days have continuing story lines. When episodes used to be complete unto themselves, it was easy to just watch one at a time. Now, if I'm busy and can't sit down to watch on a regular basis, it's hard to remember where the story was at the last time we watched it. So I prefer to watch several episodes in a row, take a break and then watch the rest.

There should be more terms describing this than just "binge-watching". I do like to watch 3-4 episodes at a time but then switch to something else for 3-4 episodes, etc. Binge Hopping? Binge Cycling? I rarely binge anything from start to finish (Jessica Jones and Stranger Things being notable exceptions and even there, I took breaks to "live" in between).
