I have been using the old Bamboo Fun tablet for several years now and I love it but have felt for a long time that it was just to small and sometimes even with the pen it makes my hand hurt holding it in the writing position all the time so I started researching a new tablet and saw that the new Bamboo Fun is now bigger and it has the touch feature where you can scroll etc.. with your hand instead of the pen but it also has the capabilities of using the pen as well. I went ahead and ordered one through Amazon since it was $30 cheaper than anywhere else I saw but was wondering if any one has it and how you like the touch feature to it? It had a few mixed reviews at Amazon.

Bamboo Fun

I bought one about a month ago and LOVE it. I got it for the drawing capabilities but find myself using the touch and pen mouse features quite often too. Actually I find myself switching back and forth between the regular mouse, the touch pad and the pen when I am using the computer. It works seamlessly for me and I find it so convenient. It really was a good purchase.

Man. I have a Wacom Intuos4. And I rarely use it... though I would use it more if I hadn't lost my pen!!

i use my bamboo ALL the time! i have it set up as my mouse. i only get the mouse out when the kids want to use my computer for something.

Was the using your hand and fingers to scroll etc... hard to get used to. I have had the pen tablet for a long time and love it but wondered how easy the touch feature would be to get used to.

I have the pen tablet (can't remember which one right now), but could never get used to using it and don't ever use it. What do you use it for? I mostly scrap with my laptop, so it feels like one more thing to drag out.

Becky, I have the old Bamboo Fun pen and mouse tablet. It's small and you can use the wireless mouse or pen that came with it. I bought it to replace my mouse because when I started digi scrapping I experienced a lot of pain in my wrist with the mouse. It helped a ton. It did take me a couple weeks to really get used to it. I actually tossed it in a drawer after my first use with it because it frustrated me so much but then the second go round I stuck it out and just made myself learn it and I LOVED it so much. I couldn't believe how much easier and smoother it made my work.

Not too long into it though I realized it was way to small and I found if I used the pen a whole lot the under part of my hand would hurt sooooo.... I did some research and found the new Bamboo Fun, which I linked at the top, and saw that it has touch capabilities and that was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something like my ipad. My computer is a touch screen monitor but it's really weird to use with it being upright. If I could just hold it in my lap, that would be perfect LOL. Wacom does make a high end tablet, Cintiq, that has the screen on it so it's just like working with your computer in your lap but they are crazy expensive. That's what I would really love to have but I don't have the spare $1,000 sitting around LOL.

I forgot to add that I think they have made all their Bamboo's with the touch feature now. They have them from like $69- $199 so it's pretty affordable and they come with PSE software if someone needed it.

ETA: All but the Bamboo Pen have touch feature

I bought one....like 6 months ago, and it's still sitting in the box! My son keeps threatening to take it since he says I'm never going to use it! I'm just scared!!! lol

You girls are making me excited about trying it now though!!!

Jessica Sprague has a Pen Tablet class at her site that I am going to take when mine gets here. I have used one for about 4 years now but I still don't know how to program the buttons and all that and I think she goes through all that in her class. It's only $55, I think, so well worth it to learn to use it to it's full potential.

i actually use the pen feature. not the touch. i bump my stuff way too often and would end up clicking on something accidentally or whatever. lol

becky, it does take quite a bit of getting used to. i hated it for the first few days, but forced myself through the learning curve. now i really like it, and it doesn't hurt my hand / wrist like the mouse did.

oooh, amanda, any links to jessica sprague's class? i would be interested in that. i am certain i don't use my table to the fullest of its capabilities. it's just a weird mouse for me right now.

so do you girls use it just with your desktops? anyone use it with a laptop?

Funny you just bring this up Gracie! I am doing our blog post tomorrow on tablets! I too have the old Bamboo Fun and LOVE it, but the new one does look VERY intriguing!!!

it's funny, i use my tablet ALL the time too and i use it to draw in illustrator and little bits of doodling on my pages but that's about it- i really need to learn it!

and what really makes me laugh it that i bought that class/tut from Jessica Sprague a while ago and have never actually "taken" it! omg, i guess it's time! i totally forgot about it!! haha!

I have the bamboo tablet with the pen but haven't used it in a long time. I got frustrated and packed it up. I think i need to get it out and practice it bit more.

becky i use mine strictly with my laptop. but i just leave it out with my computer so it's always handy.

I use mine with my laptop also but I mainly use a desktop so that's where it gets most of it's use.
