I started watching a free Adobe BootCamp class on CreativeLive (https://www.creativelive.com/class/adobe-photoshop-cc-bootcamp-blake-rudis?via=catalog-class_2) today and he started with Bridge. I haven't used Bridge or it's earlier version (forget the name) since about PSE 4 or 6. I watched today's episode which was/is all about Bridge. It does have a nice look and for a quick look at supplies, it's faster than Lightroom. I may continue using it to search for supplies as I'm never editing them or at least not until I get to my actual page making in PSE or PS.

Since it's part of the whole package, nothing lost if I decide to not use it longterm.

FWIW, tomorrow's Adobe Photoshop CCBootcamp show will be on Adobe Camera Raw; Wednesday will about Tools; Thursday Interface & Setting Up Your Interface. The other Lessons are listed on the website and most are around an hour. Each lesson loops for the day it's given live and the whole class is 4 weeks long/120 lessons.

I've never used Bridge because I started using Lightroom first. But I have read a bit about it and watched others use it (like in CreativeLIVE class as you just did). I decided not to include my digi supplies in Lightroom because it's easy enough to just get them directly out of my file folders.

Thanks for sharing about the class. I used to spend a lot of time at CreativeLIVE but not much anymore. It's one of my all time favorite places online though! I love that we can watch the classes for free. I have bought several but I've watched many more, taking lots of notes!

I don't use it as it adds an additional step before lightroom. Easier just to work directly in lightroom.

I use lightroom for photos, but I have played with it before for supplies. I like it when I use it. But I haven't played lately. I'll have to try and catch the reply of the Bridge section!

@cookingmylife I have been using ACDSee for years to organize my digital supplies, but because I lost my catalog in that program AGAIN, I've decided to move to Adobe Bridge. I'll be using it tonight in my Watch Cheryl Scrap, so if you have questions you want to ask, I can try to answer them then. I'm still learning my way around the program, but so far I'm really liking it!

Oh I'm so sorry I missed that session @gonewiththewind Cheryl. I was out past that time (like I have a wild life...LOL). Was that WCScrap recorded?

btw, the other thing I like about Bridge is that it seems to recognize the tags already I've put on my supplies in LR.

I much prefer Bridge for just browsing/finding/opening things -- both photos and supplies (although I use ACDSee for supplies too). I use Lightroom for importing and editing.

So do I. The big advantage is the bridge shows all file types.

Yes, I did record it and I'll have it posted soon. I didn't talk extensively about Bridge, but just showed a wee bit of it during the session. Something might be helpful, though.

I have a question for Bridge users. Are you able to choose an image and right click on it to open it in a program other than any Adobe product?

I don't believe so from what I researched, but maybe someone else who uses Bridge along with non-Adobe programs might know better than I do.

You SHOULD be able to have your non-Adobe editing software open with a document ready and be able to drag and drop your item from Bridge into your document though. Have you tried that?

I just tried this out and you can. Bridge will always offer you the Adobe programs to open the image with but you can add another program as a file type association and it will suggest that as well (then as a default).
I added ACDSee as the file type association to .jpeg images and with rick click Bridge suggested Illustrator, Photoshop and ACDSee.
With a double click it opened the jpeg directly in ACDSee as the default program.

I am normally a "kit" scrapper but can you tell me if Bridge will let me open the whole folder where I store the kit so I can see all the items in the kit at one time?

Thank you.

I currently use Paint Shop Pro and Picasa as my file management program for photos and digital supplies. I've been looking for something that works like Picasa that will open the files into PSP. I do not use or own any Adobe programs and have no desire to do so. PSP is my default program for photo images in Windows as well.

As a default tt will show you all the contents of a folder with subfolders just like Windows Explorer. But you can click on "show items from subfolders" and it will show you all the contents of all subfolders at the same time. This seems to be a one time thing though. You have to click on that option again with the next folder. The good thing about Bridge is that it shows you ALL items in the folder (unlike for example LR that only displays certain file types).

@rdjrneace What Rikki Said. Just the way you would see your 'kit' in Windows or on a Mac. Your main folder will show as well as all the subfolders. The only way it would show every item at once is if you took all the items out of the folders and had each individual element, paper, alpha letter etc in your main kit folder. I could see taking them out of the elements folder...if that's the direction you're going but I still wouldn't personally.

One more QUESTION from me.

When looking at supplies, is there a way to get the overall image view (in the center?) to enlarge the size of those images? I know I can look at each one over on Preview but I'd like to have all the images in the folder larger. e.g. large thumbnail vs small thumbnail which is what I feel I have now.

Looking via the FilmStrip mode is better but ...I'd like to enlarge the thumbnails too. Asking too much am I?
