I've recently read a post about selective focus, and really want to try it out!!I've searched online for how to use it with the D90 (I've misplaced my user manual), but I can't find anything that really explains how to. Any of you D90ers out there know how??

I have a D90, but I am not sure what that term means. I have mine set to where I use the arrows in the back to move my focal point.

Not sure what you mean by selective focusing, but I am thinking you want to lock in your focal point so you can recompose the shot, you can change these settings in your camera and the focal point will lock when you push the shutter button half way and hold....

Under the Custom Setting Menu - Go into auto focus
AF-Area mode should be set to single point
Timer/AE Lock - shutter release button AE-L should be ON

Hope that helps, I had been wanting to do this ever since I got my camera, pity it took a couple years to figure it out.

From what I'm reading, selective focus just means that you, not your camera, will "select" where your focus is. I've made the leap to full manual mode and now I have all of these really *would be* great photos with great bokeh, that have blurry faces because the camera focused on an object near the subject, but not on it. I just want to be able to focus on an eye, or nose, and have the whole face in focus...KWIM??

I think what you're saying is spot on Lisa. I'll try it out today! Thanks!
