Me and the kids have been tinkering around with this and they are LOVING it. Even my crabby teenagers! In fact, the crabbiest teenager is by far the most into it. They're having a riot finding the little treasures around town.

We went out tonight and only found 1 out of 4, though. Not so hot. And we're about out of ones we can walk to, so next time we will have to drive.

Super fun, though, and cheap entertainment!

Haven't done it but love people who do. Maybe when my little one gets older.

BTW, I think you and I should start a punk rock band called "The Crabbiest Teenagers."

we haven't, but I want to try it. We didn't have any nearby at our old house, but I'll have to check again now that we've moved. Perfect summer activity!!

We do too!!! We are supermadcachers! Are you on geocaching.com? We haven't been in awhile. Just about found every cache in and around our city. But after taking a few months off every now and again we find new ones! So fun!

Yep, Jacque, I am! With my whopping *3* finds. LOL

My kids are totally loving it. They want to put one together to hide.

I'm trying to minimize how much of this we do NOW so I can keep it fresh for when they are home all.summer.long. Will be a perfect activity for those days when I want to string them up. So I want it to still be exciting.

I've heard of it before but never really looked into what it's all about so I just jumped onto geocaching.com and there are quite a few around my area. In fact one of them I think is on my favourite walking track going by the description, I'm going to have to investigate now!

Bring a pen (to sign the log) and a little trinket (to swap)! Some of them just have the log to sign, others are big enough that they have little bits and baubles in them, and you can take something out and leave something in it's place. Nothing overly exciting, but it's fun. We have been leaving Army guys or dice. That sort of thing. Yesterday there was a silk flower in the one we found. Maybe this is what I can do with my 50 jars of Prima flowers. :rofl

We tried it a couple of times last year and when we found a cache my girls were over the moon. We only tried finding simple ones. I hope to do some more this summer.

I've never checked into this, but just took a quick peek at the site and there are five pages of them listed within about 2 miles of me! Could be a fun thing for this summer! :)

We love to do it. Especially when the kids are out for the summer. I have an iPhone app that I use as well. It connects with geocaching.com. We even hid one up on my sister's property for people to find. Lots of fun!

We do too and my boys love it! They call it treasure hunting. :) It's a great way to get them outside and I love that it's free to do! :)

I was teaching an ESL class a couple years ago and we read an article about it in class. Turns out there was one fairly close to where we were meeting so I made it into a field trip and we went searching for it. It was supposed to be off of one of the local walking trails. The directions seemed simple enough but we never found it. : ( Maybe if we had had more than an hour! Anyway, one of the guys in my class brought a shovel and I can just imagine what the walkers and joggers were thinking about our multi-cultural group in street clothes wandering around the woods with shovels!

our kids call it treasure hunting too, they were just thrilled about finding one recently! we plan to do more this summer, maybe we will even plan to make one :) its a fun outdoor activity and it really appeals a wide range of ages!

I think this is going to be our little summer hobby. I don't have a smart phone for a GPS app, so going to try and find a cheap handheld GPS I guess?
