Any Mac people around now? which would you buy?

the one I have is an iMac, I loked it up for the Macbook which would make things easier as I need to keep this old mac offline to scrap (Long story) but the MacBook with a 15 inches starts at £1600...the cheapest iMac is £899...almost half....
but I never had a laptop, mine has always been this iMac, I have my desk brought almost into my bed, I scrap comfy in bed : in the iMac :)

this is mine. it's absolutely amazing but was crazy expensive. My brother bought it for me when he asked me what my dream configuration would be. I can still upgrade RAM. I haven't felt the need to yet. It's super quick. I run LR, PS, Netflix at the same time. Saving is super fast and I can work on multiple photoshop files at the same time. The fusion drive gives you a combo flash drive and regular drive.

okay, i was confused :)

@MrsPeel , I think all 6 are great computers. Each one is a little "better". It's totally dependent on your budget. If you can't swing the other ones, get what you can afford.

The 2nd 27" might be the most bang for you. You said you don't need the hard drive, but you'll appreciate the Fusion drive.

oh yes, I know, I was just wondering , if you know the technicalities... is there any difference between one and another in that comparison that is worth pay 200 pounds more?
there are 3 here in this page the one huge difference is the 4K retina display... is that worth 200 Sterling Pounds? what do you think?

Okay, here's my order. 1-6 based on budget these would be the ones I'd get
6 cuz best
5 cuz fusion
3 cuz retina
2 or 1 because that's what I could afford. I'd be bummed I couldn't get a bigger one, but I'd know that I'd be super happy with my new computer that was way faster than my old one.

The Retina 21.5 has a faster processor. That's good just for the "engine" of the computer. The Retina is really nice. It's like watching a high def TV vs. an older/regular TV. Your photos and scrapbook pages will look lovely on the new screen.

It's been such a long time since I bought my last iMac. I really really loved the 24" model but it was no longer made but now having the 27" I'm amazed at how much I need the larger screen. Eyesight really goes downhill from the 60s imho.

I thought I didn't got for the fastest 27" because I've been told many times that if I'm not a gamer, which I'm not, I really don't need it. However, it's interesting that your models are 'slower' that my 2011 model and maybe I did decide to go for speed too...

I did buy it with minimal memory and knowing that the warranty would be invalid if I tampered with it...i.e. installing my own memory in that first year...I waited, bought some memory and sigh...only installed it last month! The 16gb of memory was around $200. That is easily enough done on an iMac and is the 2nd time I've done it. Both times, however, I did not have the thumb strength to shove the memory in. This is also noted on a YT video or two. I didn't keep the two original 4GB cards in but may consider adding them (24GB total) after I talk to some people at our local Mac group club.

For me, as much as i love retina displays and HD tv, sometimes it's almost better than real life. My priorities would be speed and the ability to add memory. You and your eyes are younger than me and mine so I wouldn't advise buying for the retina display even though that is the biggest sales pitch right now. hth!
