We are considering going to San Diego for a well deserved vacation. Of course we are finding lodging super expensive. Any good lodging you can recommend?

Oh I'll let hubby know about it. I never knew San Diego was so expensive!!!!

we stay out of SanDiego, Chula Vista! DAYS INN We are a few blocks from a beach, and the tram(we park our car and get a pass for the week) and take that everywhere! You can buy tickets for SeaWorld and go everyday for a week!! for the same price as one day, so we go in the morning, come home, go the next day...it is a ablast!
and if you are a thrift shopper...don't pack, bring empty suitcases! lol We do SD on the cheap! bhahah

I'll be in San Diego in about 2 1/2 weeks and we are staying at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter. I've got no idea what the place is like but it looks snazzy on their website

I live in San Diego so I don't know about hotels that much. The only one I've stayed at is Hotel Indigo downtown next to the baseball stadium. It is SO comfortable and modern, I loved it!

I recently stayed at the Best Western and it was "meh" at best. The breakfast included was decent. Friends stayed at the Hard Rock and it was horrible - constant party, full of drunks and the pool was too raucous for their kids even!

Not sure what your plans are for San Diego, but I highly recommend staying at least part of the time in La Jolla which is a lovely beach town with great shopping and restaurants, but the best part is the shore line where you can find lots of sea lions and seals. We stayed in La Jolla Cove Suites the first time, great location, right across from the beach, but a bit run down. The second time we stayed at The Grand Colonial and it was wonderful. We were upgraded to the two bedroom suite, which included a kitchen and living room. It was perfect and still an easy walk to the beach.

Thank you ladies! I am going to feed all this info to hubby.
