Amusement Parks | Pad Patter 3.24

Amusement parks are ok. I don't love them or hate them. On a scale of 1-10, I'm probably a 3.5. An amusement park would never be my first choice as a vacation destination, but we will take the kids if we happen to be in the vicinity. Neither of my older boys were ever into them too much. We like (but don't love) the rides but really dislike spending time in lines and the crowds. I think I've been to Disneyland 4 times (all as an adult), twice with the kids. It's gotten so expensive. Admission for 2 days for our family was ~$1K. There are so many other things I would prefer to do with that amount of $$.
 
Yes! Love them!

I will get on any ride...big drops, round and round in circles, crazy loops, everything. I was raised with season passes to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Being one of six kids, it was cheaper. Man...we knew that park like the back of our hands. It's much different now but I still enjoy it.
 
I grew up in San Diego; that’s 2 hours south of Los Angeles, where there are a few amusement parks. But before I became an adult, I only went once. As a young adult, I found I enjoyed all the rides I tried. But after I had kids and life got expensive, going to amusement parks was low priority. We went just a few times ... until last year. We live in Virginia, 40 minutes north of Kings Dominion, and last year for the first time, we got season passes.

I loved it more than anyone else in my family. I made scrapbook pages about it. I went a couple of times by myself. My favorite rides were Delirium, a slow-spinning and swinging ride, and the roller coaster Twisted Timbers. We decided as a family to not spend the money on it this year.

I'm a fair fan & I'm as excited as you were, @IntenseMagic, when my daughter was finally tall enough (last year) to ride the rides with me. Part of her bday present this year is going to be buying all-day wristbands for me & her and spending all day riding the (spinny not up-and-downy) rides.

Funny, because I'm not a fair fan lol I haven't been to a fair in probably 15 years. But that sounds like a great birthday!!

I've only been to Disney World 3 times. I went twice in High School with the marching band and then once in 1996 when my ex-MIL paid for the trip. My SIL and I drove down (12 hours) with 4 kids ages 14, 6, 5, and 1...not so fun lol. But yeah, it's pretty much the cost that has kept me from ever going back. I love amusement parks, but man, it's a lot. Our season passes to Carowinds were like $90 each.

I've been going to Carowinds since I was about 11 or 12 and have taken my kids since they were little. I'm starting on the grandkids now haha. We pretty much know it inside out. Season passes are the best. We've been twice on ours this year, so they have paid for themselves already.

I went to college about an hour and a half south of King's Dominion, so we made quite a few weekend trips there. I haven't been back since I graduated and I'm sure it's changed a bunch!
 
We have one about 20 minutes away... I can only handle going once a year, lol. My kids are getting older so maybe one day we'll do season passes, but for now we just make one long day of it and go on everything - well, they go on everything. I cannot handle anything with a big drop. I don't mind heights, or being upside down even, but the big drops are sheer terror for me! I LOVE ME SOME DISNEY, though! We go to Disneyland about every other year and it's the BEST! No Guardians of the Galaxy, but I'll do everything else! ;)
 
We were just discussing whether or not to plan a trip to Cedar Point for this summer over the weekend. My hubby and I used to go every year with a big group of friends after we graduated from college and I love all the rides. Two summers ago we took our kids for the first time and I realized that I'm a bit more reserved about what i want to go on these days. Lol. My oldest REALLY did not want to do any of the thrill seeker type rides and my youngest wanted to do them all! :giggle
