I'm so proud of myself and feel like I have a new computer! You might recall my mentioning my computer was in the repair shop last weekend and the weekend before. That was for a couple of things. I don't know that anyone wants the entire saga, so I'll try to summarize the key points.
1. My iMac required a new internal drive.
2. Because of a different issue, I had to to reformat that new drive and reinstall the OS and because I was impatient and didn't want to take it in to the shop for a 3rd time, I read some how-to articles and did it myself, and as the Apple tech on the phone yesterday suspected, it solved the problem!
I'm so excited to start anew. It nearly feels like a brand new computer.
Alas, the Backblaze software seems to think it IS a new computer and I can't just reconnect with all my data they have backed up. I would have to start backing it up all over again. That's 3 Tb of data! It will take months.
But maybe this is one of those blessings in disguise. Because I've been with Backblaze a long time and because of the hassle of uploading I never wanted to try another service, but I know there's a better one (I forget the name -- I need to go look it up) that saves what we back up, even if we lose it from our own computer (unlike Backblaze). My husband also suggests I consider Dropbox.
Just wanted to share. And TLP was the first place I visited and saved a password for on my "new" computer.
Now to continue setting things up . . .
