So, when the PL plastics came in on Friday, I ordered the big variety pack 2 and some journaling cards. Before we got a digital SLR, we had a film SLR and have a ton of printed photos from when we were living in France (and some travels in Europe) that are not in albums or anything. So, my plan is to use the PL stuff to get them into albums and at least write a few lines to describe them.

Here are my questions:
1. Is everyone using the PL albums or are there others out there that the plastics will fit into?
2. I have decided that I need some sort of overlay frame type thing to lay over my photos to decide if I can or want to trim them down to the 3x4. Is there something easy out there already? I am sure that I can come up with something, but didn't want to reinvent the wheel!

P.S. I got my stuff today and tonight got out one box of photos and started laying them out and putting them in the pockets and I got SO excited. I can't wait!!

I don't have much in the way of advice other than I know there are other albums that fit... I'm sure someone will have that info.

I just wanted to say, Yay for you!!! I'm excited for you (and a wee bit envious). :D My DD and I bought both of the big variety packs (and are splitting them) and the big envelope pages. Ours won't arrive until Thursday though. I am dying here! :D

Can't wait to see what you do!!

I use the regular 12x12 We R Memory Keepers faux leather binders and they fit perfectly. I know some others who use American Crafts 12x12 album binders.

About the overlays, do you mean a physical product? I haven't seen any physical products that would make it easy for you to see what your photo would look like 3x4 before cropping them. Maybe you can just put them under the page protector and see?

I bought an American Crafts 12x12 D-ring binder this weekend(on someone else's advice) and I'm praying they fit like she said they would!

As far as a 3x4 template you could definitely use a trimmer and cut a 3x4 rectangle out of the center of a piece of cardstock. Other than that I don't know of anything already out there.

I'm with Christine on the WRMK faux leather albums. They are great- plenty of color selection and very durable. In fact, I do NOT care for the PL albums at all. The quality on last year's was terrible. I ordered this year's hoping they would be better and sent it back. IMO, stick with WRMK or AC.

I think Fiskars makes a set of plastic cropping guides where you can see the photo inside crop lines. My paper scrapping BF has them. I believe she got them at Michaels.

You already got some great advice, so I just wanted to say that it's really cool that you're doing this, Becky!

Thanks for the input on the albums, I will definitely check out the other albums.

After I posted I thought that making my own little 'tempate' out of card stock might be the easiest thing to do too, but I will maybe check out those guides that you talked about, Laura.

I am super excited, I will have to take some pictures and share when I am further along.

1. Is everyone using the PL albums or are there others out there that the plastics will fit into? I got my album at Hobby Lobby for around $15 (on sale half off). It's black leather and has a label thingie on the spine that I can print something to go in. I love it.

I have the PL black signature binder... love it. I would consider buying another album if I found one that worked in a store. It's my first PL so I just went with the PL one.

I bought a Clementine one because I really loved the color and the pattern. My digi friends doing PL are using both WRMK albums and AC ones and they fit just fine.
