i think this is the first year we haven't had some kind of chocolate Advent calendar and neither of the kids asked for one even when i commented it was Dec 1st the other day and when i made my fam & in-laws a photo advent calendar the other week with the My Advent app

Are you using an Advent calendar this year and if so, what kind? Are you trying something new or breaking with tradition?

I bought the kids Lego advent calendars this year. Last year I made them share one and they didn't like taking turns. We're also picking a random letter each day (I printed Paislee Press alphabet cards) and finding something to do with that letter. So far we've had S surprise (they opened their Lego calendars), R remember (we looked through old December photos), O ornaments (they decorated the tree), and W watch (we're going to watch a show tonight). I'm loving the alphabet one! I'd like to do it every year. I'm even scrapping it as we go thanks to Christmas in July!

I'm hoping we don't pull X haha I made a list of possible words for each letter in advance but we haven't used them! I have the kids brainstorm with me each morning when we find out the letter. I'm thinking X could be something exciting or extra or maybe a treasure hunt with X marks the spot. Q will be hard too!

I made advent countdown cards a few years back. They are decorated on the front and have a Bible verse on the back. We've been using them every year since I've made them. It's simple & easy & the kids especially love them now that we've been doing it several years. It brings back good memories.

Quiet? Like when you hang out in front of the tree and enjoy the ambiance of the lights?
Quirky? Your quirkiest ornaments?
Quaint? Something old fashioned like stringing popcorn on string, or caroling down the street, or old fashioned hot cocoa?

I have my Christmas calendar set up, but I never put anything in it this year. We haven't been doing advent, but I should pull it out!!

Thanks Courtney! I'll definitely use these!
