Ok, here's a wedding"can you believe????" true story to make you smile.

A couple months ago, I asked my dh to check his suits to see if they fit etc etc He tried on a blue blazer that was really off - it fit but the shoulders were too large. Into the giveaway bag. He had another navy winter one and I asked him if he had light grey slacks. He said yes and just this week I said ...Did you try them on? he put them on and showed me. They were dark dark gray. Ugh. Today, I asked again...Do you have a suit or something to wear? Yes, he had the green suit ...but oh...the pants that went with the suit had something wrong with them last time he went to wear the suit and we gave those pants away. So the sheepish answer was, no, he no longer has any suit.

I gave him the look. Finally I said, Did you try on your tux? the wedding is semi-formal but I know people are coming in all levels of dress incl a pair of khakis with some kind of step up from a t-shirt. He tried the tux on, it fits perfectly but he moaned and groaned a la teenage girl. "I'll be the only one with a tux!" Actually, Dick <--his name!, Iain (my son) and the two groomsmen will have tuxes on... He's now complaining that his dress black shoes don't feel very good. Men.

I do my best not to be a controlling, mothering wife but sometimes it's like having another teenage boy around. :blahblahblah

Ha! I feel your pain. My husband did not try on his dress shirt ahead of time, and we traveled a couple of hours to our wedding site. Guess what happened when he put it on that morning?!

He complains every time he sees our wedding photos that he looks fat since the shirt was so tight & clung to his belly.

I smile & say that I made sure to buy a dress that didn't cling to my stomach at all (and I was 20 weeks pregnant!) so too bad, so sad. :giggle

That's too funny that he's complaining about the clothes. It's just one day. He'll be married and it will all be worth it!! Good luck to everyone and may the weather cooperate for a beautiful wedding! <3

Oh gosh! And it's not like dudes have it tough. Women have to find a nice dress, coordinating shoes, pretty accessories, get their hair done (and perhaps a haircut/color before the big day itself), make sure the makeup is pretty and relatively subtle so you don't upstage the bride but you don't want it sooooo subtle that you look "tired" (that dreaded word!), and we have to have a handbag that's big enough to hold tissues, our phone, maybe a camera, and our wallet and mints and who knows what else? Jeez.
For our own wedding, it was outdoors in my parents' backyard. Not formal at all. :) I had DH (yes, I say "had," cuz we all know the bride usually picks out the clothes for EVERYONE lol) in a linen shirt and pants. There was no way DH, who sweats when it's 60 degrees out, was gonna be in a tux, or even a blazer, outside in the summer. :) But do you know what that meant later one? HE NEVER HAD A SUIT TO WEAR to other functions! So when my grandpa died, we had to go to the store and get a suit that fit either right off the rack or that needed such minor adjustments that it'd be ready in time for the funeral. Thankfully we found a gorgeous Calvin Klein suit that needed minor altering and they'd take care of it asap cuz they heard it was for a funeral... then DH drives us to the funeral and leaves his brand new (expensive) jacket behind at my parents' home, 45 min away. (I thought he'd taken it off to drive and had it in the little garment bag it came in. I was wrong.) I was really annoyed, mostly cuz we could've forgone the suit altogether if he was gonna leave behind the item that MADE it look like a suit.
Long story longer: make sure your DH has all pieces of his tux with him when you head out the door! :) #justmyexperience

It's very well known around here that I consider my husband of 17 years my 3rd son. I say often "When exactly are you going to grow up? You're 14!". Oh well, I feel your pain.

GAH!!! Why do men do that?!!? Jiminy Crickets you'd swear we were killing them!! Hand him a scotch as he walks out the door and that should help him forget he has to wear a tux!

Men. (insert me shaking my head!) This sounds like my husband. It sure is nice to know that I'm not the only one that goes through this! :giggle

This made me giggle.

My hubby is pretty good about planning ahead, but there are times on Sunday mornings when we're getting ready for church and he drives me nutso asking me about whether this shirt goes with this pair of pants. Let me be clear: he wears jeans or khakis and most of his shirts go with either one of those. So yeah. Pick one. Ha!

Ha ha! We've had moments like that when we are getting ready to go to a wedding my and my hubby will tell me his shirt or pants don't fit/match. etc. Lol. And I also tease him that he's my 3rd child a lot. He just laughs and agrees with me. :giggle

My hubby gets weird with his socks! Of all things! They need to match the shoes he is wearing. If he is out and about and he realizes (shocker) he is wearing white socks with his black shoes it will put him in a bad mood! He thinks you should wear only black socks with black shoes, what does it matter when you have jeans on!?

he drives me nutso asking me about whether this shirt goes with this pair of pants

When we got married (15 years ago and he was 61 and no fashion plate) I tried to give him guidance with 'dark pants, light shirt; tan pants, dark shirt' because for some reason he always ended up with the reverse. And this was not in the 'all black' NYC kinda look. I also have to wait to wash shirts and pants that are in the laundry because if not, the same two items will be worn over and over again.

@Sokee I am totally with your husband. Black socks only with black shoes. NEVER black socks with shorts! btw. That was a look a hs/college friend sported - he was an original geek. Often had a patterned shirt with plaid shorts and those black shoes and socks. Frightening to him in that at the beach! :groan

lol! My hubby wears dress clothes for work- so he is usually pretty good on that front- now if I could just get him to slim down his t-shirt (most from college!!!) collection- I'd be happy! :D
