aaaah neighbours! gotta love 'em

we are replacing a boundary fence between our property and our neighbours at the moment and I will be so glad when it is done!

Overall we are very lucky and have nice neighbours but the one we are currently replacing the fence with just really gets on my nerves. We have always waved to each other and said hello etc but due to this fence I've had to deal with him a little more lately and he is just so abrupt and and and just blah! LOL

yesterday the old fence was removed and the new posts put in, all good! We have a pool pump that is close to the boundary. So last night Mr Neighbour calls me and I ask him 'how are you Bill?' being polite and his response was "Well I'm very angry actually!"

Oh great, this is going to be a nice phone call! His concern was that our pool pump was going to cause him to have the palings of the new fence on his side of the property and then proceeded to blurt out regulations to me about how that is not to be etc etc etc

All so politely I informed him that the palings would remain on our side and I have already spoken to the fencing company about the pool pump and they don't have an issue with it, so all is good.

Phone call ended pleasantly but after I hung up I was so furious about the way he approached the subject. Why couldn't he just call and say he has a concern about the pool pump and have I discussed it with the fence people and in a nice tone, not some pompous arrogant blah way??!!

Grrr! So hopefully when this fence is finished I won't have to deal with Mr Neighbour again as he is at the back of our property and I am putting up a very high fence!

I just don't get people like that, I guess he was lucky that I answered the phone and not my husband as I don't think he would have been so polite back to him! :giggle

so so glad you won't have to deal with him like that much longer!!! What a irritating phone call! Here, it would have been lucky to get DH on the phone and not me. I can't hold my tongue much any more. ;)

Oh no, it sure isn't fun when neighbours are difficult. Luckily we have pretty good neighbours too, and since we back onto a park, we only have 2 to deal with!

Our last house, not so lucky. The next door neighbour sold, and the new neighbour decided it was his right to chop the 10 foot cedar hedge separating our properties down to 5 feet. What?! The hedge was on the property line. Well, probably the actual trunks were on our side of the property by about a foot. And he chops the thing down. His kids were vulgar (the parents didn't speak English so I'm not entirely sure they knew this), she yelled out the door at him and kids all the time, he occasionally got drunk and got into fist fight with his company, and we get to watch. Lovely! NOT.

Oops, didn't realize I still had a little anger issue with this.

Anyway, Kaye, you have my sympathies...

I have the same neighbor!! Always always ****y. I'm very friendly, easy going, not hard to get along with. But she is non stop trying to pick a fight with me for no reason!

We've got a neighbor that is basically......insane! Truly! A side street separates us but their dogs and cats are forever in our yard, doing their 'biz ness' and generally tearing up our yard. Earlier this week, DH warned the crazy coot that we will take measures of our own to eliminate the problem if he can't or won't. Period!

So, I walk out of the house this morning and there's their cat on my car and his 'biz ness' on my porch! ARGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Sorry about your neighbor issues, I got 1 really ****ty neighbor that poisoned my old dog, that vacuums the cracks in his driveway (yes actually goes down on his knees and vacuums) (we share a driveway) and sweeps the street all the way to the corner LOL! I wish they would move away, my other neighbors are really friendly

Ugh not fun when neighbors are not easy to deal with. One reason I love living in the country, my *neighbors* aren't that close lol. Hopefully the fence will be up soon and you won't have to deal with Mr. Grump much more.

haha loving hearing about your crazy neighbours too. Well the fence is finished and I can't see mr grumpy pants from my house anymore YAY!!

OMG Micheline, vacuuming a driveway??!!!

When DH was growing up his neighbour used to remove all the stones from the garden beds and wash them all in a cement mixer and put them all back again. He would do this a few times throughout the year. He also used to also paint the larger rocks green!

glad to hear the fence is back in place! maybe that will ease the tension and you can go back to being pleasantly distant!

a few houses ago, we had a neighbor to tell stories about! they were nice, but just, um, well.... they had a pool and the pump was along our fence. one day they decided to drain said pool, and they decided it would be the best thing to stick the hose through the fence and into OUR back yard. when i got home, our whole back yard was flooded and eroded. i was furious. when i said something to her (pretty nicely for as angry as i was feeling), she said, 'well, this is what we have always done before they built your house. what else do you want us to do?' in no uncertain terms, i told her it needed to stop NOW or else hubby would get involved, which would not be pretty. *eye roll*

Gah Kaye! We're doing that this summer too, soon I hope! We have a 5ft. fence in our back yard and it's too short for my liking. We are putting up a new fence all around, hopefully 7ft, but probably only 6ft since I think that's regulation. We have to take down the neighbors gross falling over fence and I'm afraid.
It's a rental and the owner is a cop. He's the idiot that was using some super-loud concrete machine in his gross garage at 11pm one night! His shingles are all over our yard, his tenants have parked some gross camper cab trailer halfway on our property - it's just a real eye sore, the whole property.

Our hope is that he'll just sell the property to us and we can bulldoze it.

That is one thing I hate about living within city limits, everyone's got neighbors. lol

Ugh. That is horrible. I'm glad your fence is up and you can ignore him. Sorry you had to deal with crank-meister.

I don't know why people always have to get their panties in a bunch before finding out the facts. Geesh. Glad you'll have that fence up soon!

Oh dear - this is why I try not to talk to mine .... I hope the big fence keeps his big nose out of your business!

so sorry you have to deal with neighbors like that Kaye!!

I've heard horror stories from friends about their neighbors...I'm so thankful I have the most easy going neighbors in the world. Even though I hate my house...I don't want to ever move!
