Hi guys,
I know some of you know sarahbhb, Anne (The British Anne) Jo (gurrlfluddy) and myself amongst other people scrap on a program from Serif called Craft Artist Professional.
The price is usually something between USA$50 and $60,
but they have an offer going now, I just got an email, for a week only
the program is here in the UK at £4.99
that means I think $7 USA dollars, if I'm not mistaken...I know is under $10 for sure...
The offer is real because I just got it....
I know most people scrap with Photoshop versions, but have been seeing lots of people who use psp and other free stuff, some of it a bit limited...this program I use is really really easy to work with, and does 99% of what PSE does, and other stuff that PSE doesn't do....
no need to separate layers, shadows go with a click, you have gazillions of settings for them too.
Anyway, I just thought I share as is so cheap.....

Wow! That's quite a bargain for scrapping software! Thanks for sharing that here. Maybe there are some newer people that are just getting started and that would be great for them! No need to save up for software at that price! :)

$7.49 here..just checked. I just bought it a couple of weeks ago in a 40% off sale...wishing I would have waited...lol.

Seriously it's an awesome program and pretty user friendly. The only shortcomings I've found is it's handling of PSD files and inability to use actions. I may miss actions if i'd ever used them, but since I haven't that's really a non issue for me. For PSDs, there are work arounds, the easiest of which is to just bring the layers in as individual pngs (which so many template designers provide now). If you are looking for a digital scrapbook software this is a totally awesome deal.

I've been using this software since it's first inception (as Digital Scrapbook Artist) over four years ago when I started digi. I recommend it to everyone I know that has been interested in learning how to digital scrapbook.

This might be a great alternative for when my CS5 quits working, since I am not sure that subscribing to Creative Cloud is going to happen.

CS5 won't ever "stop working." Do you mean when you need more functionality?

Or for Mac users, there is Pixelmator which is always $15. ;)

Lorry, I'm on Mac, I use Parallells. Is a program that creates Window on the mac Ionly use the Parallels/Windows for the CAP
I dont have anti virus or anything else as I never use it to go online, I just use for scrapping, even resizing I do in PSE opn Mac....
As far as I know, CAP 2 is a lot better than any other cheap program....

Yes functionality. As in when new actions, styles, scripts are no longer compatible. Which has happened with every other old/outdated version. I have already received compatibility errors when opening some template files created with CC. I found a work around, but I know from past experience it is only a matter of time before things won't be compatible with my CS5 (now considered an outdated program for which Adobe has no intentions of providing support).

Trista, will that happen to PE? If yes, then I might hv to get CAP for standby
.

For that price just get it anyway, It is a great software, the tec, support is in real time and on the Daisytrail site you can always get help too , and you are not limited to using their kits, since any digikits you have can be used. I use both Pse and Ps but find Cap (CA2) much more user friendly . Sarah you can save any actions that you make yourself as a style, or as a filter in photolab, but I have not found a way to adapt imported actions either . This sounds a bit like a sales spiel, but Like Cynthia and Sarah I just love the program.(For silhouette users the software can also be used to make your own svg files. )

if you still have trouble Agnes, go into Daisy Trail forums and ask for help....I dont go there because I got used to get support from Serif forums, but they are a nice bunch....

Cynthia, I did ask for help in DaisyTrail online chat. And now they are working on creating the account manually for me :p

When you add $80 for the cost of Parallels and $100 or more for Windows, then the price of CAP on a Mac is not very good at all anymore. Pixelmator has a low price point, but it is high quality and high functionality. I can do almost everything people talk about doing in PSE and other things that can't be done in PSE, and it's a lot more user-friendly than PSE. I'm glad you found what works for you, but I don't see that it does anything I can't already do.

Agnes, glad to hear, if you want any help, just give a shout (once you have the program) I ll be happy to help :)

you wont believe what just happened to me...

I just wrote a kilometric post about the parallels and all and when I went to click post, it went into the next thread and all is lost....well, better that way so you don;t have to listen to my life story LOL
long story short:
I didn't realise programs could be so expensive there? I thought everything was more expensive here!!!
I didn't pay for Windows, I had XP from before switching to Mac in 2007, use that to this day, as I only use the program is more than OK.
Parallels here cost me £26 the first time, and then here the regular price is £34, but I always get offers for £25/6 or 7
They release a new version every 18 month to 2 years, and I smoke £27 in 10 days...so, worth the money...

I did try with PSE back in 2010, a CT colleague even got on Skype to teach me, one of the designers I CTed for sent me videos, nothing, I ended up more frustrated, crying...there was a problem with the layers bin I think, I can't remember but it didn't happen...
anyway, I just though, taken that there are a few others who scrap with it here, that I mention it as it is so cheap now :)

of to sort tomorrow 's pages :)
watch out for the releases tomorrrow girls.....A M A Z I N G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI: When you 1st registered, you'll be given a code for $5. So with that, the CAP2 is as good as free. :)
