Some of you mentioned you had never seen a snowflake up close or even knew that they actually looked the way they do......I thought i'd share more...aren't they just the prettiest things? my photo's are straight of the camera btw...no EDITING!

Huh, I always thought people making them look like that was like the way people draw hearts and how they actually look.

Great pictures though!!

those are awesome. So, did you basically just lay something dark (the bear) and the Santa hat out and wait for them to fall, then take the picture?

YES! It was snowing pretty good so it was constant...I kept having to shake the bear off for a " clean slate"! I pretty much just laid on my stomach at my sliding glass door for short periods until i had to warm up!

It was neat seeing the change of the snowflakes with the rise and fall of temperature too! At one point, they got too tiny for me and my shake was too much and then in the afternoon, they were bigger and easier to shoot!

I'm going to need to try this. Hopefully it'll snow when we visit our family! Did you shoot manual?

Ok, I know I can't afford a macro lens right now, but I'm seriously considering renting one to try and get some shots like this. These are amazing! TFS!

Those are so amazing Val. Thank you so much for sharing them. I certainly saw my share of snowflakes living in Alaska, but never thought to take photos.

Those are quite possibly some of THE most amazing photos I've ever seen! So gorgeous! TFS!
