Wow, we have been hit with a deluge!

Posting a photo of a car rescue. Note that the red arrow is pointing to a building with a purple banner. That is the building I work at. Photo was taken yesterday evening (not by me, thank goodness).

And surprisingly, aside from some debris on the walks this morning, you'd never know it was this bad. No flooding in our building at all.

Marilyn

Oh no, Marilyn! Like Carrie said, I saw that on GMA. Yikes! I'm so glad that your building didn't flood and I'm so glad that man was rescued.

Totally crazy, for sure. The area is around Kent Creek, which is notorious for flooding. A few years back, they had a 100 year flood, twice in a few months. Yes, so glad that the man was rescued. I've seen other footage, and it was just normal folks rescuing him. True heroes, they risked their own lives to save another. They had to break out the back window of the vehicle to get him out. The young man wearing the purple shorts was in another video, walking down the road in the water, waste deep. His original mission was to walk to the McDonalds to pick up something to eat. Instead, he helped save someone.

Omgosh!! Flooding can be so devastating!! Glad your building didn't flood. Stay safe!

woah! i'd say that is a lot more than a bit of flooding! I'm amazed your building wasn't affected! Glad no one was hurt and people were being helpful!

Yikes!
We had some flooding here a week ago. Our river reached a record level.
Today we had another downpour in the afternoon, but it was brief.
I'm glad your business didn't get flooded!
A lady interviewed by our local newspaper, who lives right by the city dock, one of the worst flooded areas, said she doesn't even store anything important in her basement because of the likelihood of floods.

Oh my goodness, Marilyn! Glad you're okay! Flooding is so totally devastating! Glad everybody who's been effected is okay! We had our share of it last September - everybody stay dry!

Oh my goodness! That is crazy! I'm so glad that everyone is safe and that your building didn't flood. I love hearing stories of people rushing in to help others. Warms my heart!

Crazy!!! There is a mall near us where the parking lot floods almost once a year. It has entered the lower level of the mall more than once.

Have you seen any of the pictures of the flooding in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan? Huge sinkholes. Then there was crazy flooding in CT a few weeks back, where main street became a deep river.

I can't believe all the flooding everywhere... JillW had it too.. be safe and hope @mcurtt Marilyn that your house is safe and dry.

I saw that on another station. They also showed a clip of a guy standing in the middle of the road in water letting cars that were heading his way know they should turn around and go back. He was on the edge of the flooding of the road and not really in any danger himself.

Bev, I just checked out the photos of the UP. OMG! Such destruction. Here, things are pretty much back to normal. Our problem was that they said 5" of rain fell in about 3 hours, and the storm drains just couldn't handle the volume. Luckily damage was minimal.

Thanks, Christa. Yes, we are fine, not a speck of water in our basement. I do live 16 miles away from work, out in the middle of the country, about 40 - 50 miles away from JillW. We had massive rains as well, our creek "overflow-ith" but it was far away enough (and on lower ground) to not creep near the home.

I happened to catch a video of a guy jet skiing down one of the main roads about 5 miles away from my home, Apparently he wasn't too concerned about his home flooding & took advantage of the water to enjoy himself. :-)

Michelle, I wonder if it is part of the same storm system. Our rain was Monday evening, and a bit more on Tuesday. Today we are misting, no major rain. Our rain lasted about 3 hours Monday evening, not much wind, just a very hard downpour. I'm in the MW, about 100 miles northwest of Chicago.

We are heart broken...... the boy who lost his life in this flooding is a relative on my husbands side. It is so sad, he was only 12.
My oldest son is a Michigan State Trooper and lives right there as that is his Post area. So he was working that day. had to go around and help where needed and record all roads that were not drivable so a main list could get completed

@mcurtt
Marilyn I'm so glad you are all right!

Oh, Barbara, I am SO sorry for your loss. Mother Nature can be quite cruel. And your poor son, I am sure you are mixed with emotions, so proud of what assistance he is offering but so frightened that he is in the middle of this destruction. Please take care.

Oh my goodness, I think I saw that shot as a video on the Weather channel app on my phone? I didn't watch it but I'm pretty sure that was it. So scary please stay safe.

@Sokee I have no words. I am so very sorry for your family's loss.

Oh no @Sokee I hadn't heard about that... I'm so sorry for your family's loss! :( We had crazy rain here in Michigan yesterday and when we left work at 5:00 our parking lot had about 6-8 inches of water standing... I've worked here for 22 years and have never seen that happen! We are supposed to get more today too. Crazy amounts of rain!
