I thought I would do something slight different this week….
We are going to create a cover of a smash book.
What is a smash book :
Basically it is a way to capture memories and life moments. The idea goes back to the roots of scrapbooking when people made simple memory books. They stuffed them full of memorabilia, photos and mementos. Then scrapbooking took on it's own art form. The Smash book idea is to go back to that quick and easier way of capturing what is going on in your life. You can quickly add journaling and photos, stuff in special treasures and there you have it, life captured and "smashed" into your book!
Here come the tricky part, we are doing a mixture of art journal and mixed media.. and it's digital !!! So you will have to imagine if it was a real smash book cover what are the supplies you would want to have with you.
These is the challenge , here are the supplies that you are required to have on your cover :
Page will be A4 size. Painted paper as your background , lots of washi tapes (or you can make your own by cutting a pattern paper and play with the opacity ), paints/splatters/stamps, lots of word art cut outs / newspaper cut outs , doodles, ribbon/ lace, staples, stitches… Find elements that you want to have on your cover .. we don't want to have just a flat looking cover, therefore the elements will give it a 3D effect to your cover.
Lastly, pick a photo that has your image in it. You are gonna use the lasso tool or any method you are comfortable with and cut out the image of you that is on the photo!!(You don't have to cut out the shape perfectly,I will show you the example in the thread). Once done, you will place the photo on the cover. Viola we are done!!
Wait!! For the fun of it, you can print it out and maybe make it into an actual cover of smash book by adding glitters, buttons,flowers or ink the edges (please don't buy anything for this).. use whatever you already have. or you can journal on any empty spots once you have printed it out.

You have till 9/26 8pm EST to complete this challenge. I will prepare a coupon for the winner of this challenge (will update you ladies soon)
