I am still on an 80's music vibe and have been listening to Prince and the Revolution since Friday. So, I have to ask...

What is your favorite 80's tune?

Omg! There are so many. I can’t narrow it down. How about eighties artists?

Depeche Mode
Erasure <——best concert ever!!
OMD
NIN <—-Pretty Little Hate Machine (1989)
Information Society
Human League
Eurythmics
Howard Jones
Def Leppard
Poison
Prince
Madonna
Cyndi Lauper

there are so many!!! I know my music tastes were very eclectic!!

Sheila E on the drums!!! Amazing!!!

Depends ... if you're thinking of "typical 80's sound", I'd say Humans League's DARE album, but don't make me pick ONE song.

I listened to a lot of Swedish music that you probably never heard.

But ... I'd say Stone Roses are the best music from the 80's. The album did release in 89, but it feels more like 90's music. Effing good!

And I would say Running Up That Hill with Kate Bush, but it feels a bit weird now that everyone listens to it. I just want to say: I loved it the first time it was cool. LOL

Oh man! There was so much good music in the 80s! I loved Michael Jackson, George Michael, all the good hair bands the Danica listed... Def Leppard, Poison, Whitesnake. I also loved the first three she listed Depeche Mode (I still listen to them all the time), OMD, NIN. I liked 80s Madonna best too before she got weird. And Phil Collins and Genesis before he went on his own. Billy Joel. So much good music from that decade!

OMG, I heard Erasure playing at a restaurant the other day and it made me so happy! LOVED them back in the day.

Too many to state... the ones that I take a photo of my car audio to send to a friend who was there in the 80's are the ones that flood back memories of a particular time or place. A lot are inside jokes too, maybe at the time we didn't really love the song, but thought the MTV video was funny and now love to catch it. LOL funny how time changes the memory :wub
I lived in Los Angeles growing up and listened to KROQ, so they played such a new wave/punk mix and exposed me to such a mix from all over the world. I especially loved Nina Hagen and even dyed my hair pink like hers. Also benefited from every up and coming act coming to LA to start out, playing small venues and/or tickets given away on the radio :) Got tix for Howard Jones, Nina Hagen, B52s, Missing Persons, Billy Idol from offers like this.

I worked in the same clothing store all through high school and I think the sisters who owned it only played 2 tapes. You'd think I'd be sick of them, but I still love both albums.
Janet Jackson Control
and
Anita Baker Rapture

Yes to the George Michael and Genesis!!!! I must say, I was late to the punk and New Wave craze....wasn't until I was in high school in the early 90s that I was introduced to DM. And once I was, I bought just about every single cassette!

@weaselwatchr You've listed such wonderful bands! I must say, it wasn't until high school for me, that I began to transition into rock music and the hair bands...so the 90s. Cindi Lauper is definitely one of my 80s favs too. I think she was my third album.

I am intrigued....I wonder if Apple Music has any of the Swedish artists?

Well, I don't do Apple, but look for "Gyllene Tider". I love them whole-heartedly still. The lead singer Per Gessle went on and started Roxette together with Marie Fredriksson later on. Don't tell my husband, but Per Gessle is the love of my life. :giggle

@norton94 Oh, Howard Jones. There's one person I haven't thought about since the 80s. Youtube, here I come!

Oh Tears for Fears-Everybody wants to rule the world.

And that entire INXS album kick was awesome.

Man and how could I forget Brian Adams. First cassette I ever bought, lol.

I love 80's music. I know the songs, the lyrics. I just adored INXS, Queen and the Simple Minds. I became a Brian Adams fan when I saw him on Torhout-Werchter about 34/35 years ago. Had every album of Duran Duran. I have a broad taste in music cause what about The Eurythmics, The Police/Sting, Genesis, Bon Jovi, Elton John. I could go on and on. My favourite songs: Need you tonight by INXS and Don't you (forget about me) by the Simple Minds. Oh and: I just can't get enough by Depeche Mode and then the live version.

@MikkieR I almost forgot about INXS and Simple Minds! My gosh, more fabulous songs and groups to add to the list!

Thought I'd posted here the other day - so much great music from that decade. A few of my faves - Bryan Adams, Dire Straits, Phil Collins/Genesis, Eurythmics, U2, The Police/Sting, Queen, Tina Turner, Tracy Chapman, Journey...

Songs - Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics, Walk of Life by Dire Straits, Every Little Thing by The Police
