My parents-in-law are celebrating their 50th anniversary in less than 3 weeks. :beat They have 2 sons who are lacking in creativity ;) so I'm trying to come up with a gift for them from all of us.

My FIL loves technology, while my MIL is very traditional. I had originally thought to give them a digital frame filled with photos of their sons, daughters in law and grandchildren, but it turns out that my FIL recently got a digital frame as a gift so this idea was voted out..

I am on the other side of the ocean and there isn't much time, so a photobook isn't an option. Another thing I thought about is to collect 50 things about them (memories from their family and friends from these past 50 years) and perhaps display them in a physical frame (and in digital format more like a slideshow for my FIL), but I am not sure if I can pull it off.

Anyway, I am looking for suggestions of cool things you have done for events like this. I need inspiration! :D

I don't have a clue but am going to stalk this post!! My parents are celebrating their 50th in June!!!! I am the only one that ever thinks about things like this!!!

I love the idea of the 50 memories, but that sounds like a lot of work, not that they are not worth it.

I think we sent my parents on a trip for their 50th.

I think that's sweet that you're thinking about doing something. Unless my boys marry some creative women, we'll never ever get a gift!LOL

Love the idea of the 50 memories.. I did this for my moms 60th birthday.. Sent notecards to family and friends. I was totally surprised and impressed that nearly everyone participated. It was awesome. Since your on a time crunch could you send an email to friends and family to help you gather them. I did a puzzle of photos and had it printed - that was a hit if the like puzzles.

LOL This......having four boys ourselves....we'll never get anything! LOL

Are you able to contact family/friends and ask them to email any old photos and/or ask them to answer a few questions. A few photos and the questions/answers could be put together in a digital layout to print and frame for them. It's always fun to hear the different answers from everyone on the same topic. Some questions could be:

1. What is their most endearing quality?
2. What do you think the secret is to their successful longevity in their marriage?
