For those who don't know the whole story.. my son went off to college last year and HATED it. Pretty much flunked out. I didn't want him to give up on college completely, so I told him I'd take an online class with him at the local community college to keep him going.

Pick something fun, I said.

He picked World History II. :dizzy

I would have rather had MATH than this!!! OY!

Of course, he just had Honors History in HS 2 years ago, so he's strolling through this without even reading the book (although I'm not sure what kind of grade he's getting, I'd imagine not great...). I'm dying over here!

I'm also determined not to let this bring my GPA down. :giggle

My highest grade ever in history in HS was a D. I do not like history.

Anyway, here we are in week 14. I currently have a 94%. I just need to hang on for three.more.weeks.

I've decided now that I'm all re-enrolled and all that I might stick around and get a degree in Sports and Exercise studies or whatever. They have an Associates for that, and I already have all the non-degree specific requirements done, so all I'd have to take are the "fun" classes.

Guess I'm back to "New Conflagrations: World War II". Good times at Casa Kovacs.

Oy is right! I was never any good at history. My little brother got all the history smarts as that is what his degree is in. LOL!

You are definitely rockin' the class though...good for you! :)

That's awesome Angie! Go you!!! History was my WORST class ever. I. HATED. IT! I remember flunking it in 4th grade. :giggle

Keep up the great work. How cool would that be to have an Associates in Sports and Exercise. Maybe you can continue teaching us a thing or two. ;)

I feel your pain! I was also really sucky at history in HS, I just never got it for some reason. I am a little better with it now because of homeschooling - we go over it SO many times with all the kids LOL, and I have to pretend that it is fun for their sake! I'm impressed by your grade though - that is awesome!!

oh ugh... history was my worst subject too... and you're doing awesome and I also think it's totally awesome that you're thinking of getting your degree... totally awesome!!!

That would be great if you could get your degree! Congrats on doing so well in history! I always hated history. I think it is so wonderful you are doing this with your son!

uugh! History was my worst too. But congrats in going back to school and helping your son too :) I think thats awesome !

I love history and enjoyed taking it in college but sure glad those days are gone! Good Luck, Angie! You. Can. Do. It.!

I hate history!!! It just repeats itself anyway so why do we need to learn what's coming up again and again! LOL I got straight A's but it wasn't because I enjoyed learning about history.

Congrats on the A!!!! YAY!

Yay! 94% is awesome for a class that you don't like. I never liked History in school either. I cannot remember names and dates to save my life! I do find that if I read a historical fiction book I have a better chance of relating to events and can sorta remember them better.

That would be pretty cool to get a degree in excercise science. Totally fits you!

You're doing awesome! It's always hard to take classes like these but look at you go! :)

What's your son's next move after this?

you can do it Angie! Only 3 more weeks :) ........ I loved Ancient History at school hehe

Way to go Angie!! My favorite non-major classes in college were religious studies. Specifically, world mythology, Greek mythology (love!), and Taoism. The Taoism class was hard (English translations of an ancient Chinese text are no fun to understand), but it was very interesting!

Hope you get to take a few more classes that you actually like. And if you can get a 94% in a class you hate, then you are golden for classes you actually like.

Congrats on your grade! I think it's wonderful you've gone back to college, initially for him but now for you. Hopefully, with you continuing he will as well.

I love the idea of history, but I have no ability to memorize dates so it's a class I always struggled with. AP European history in HS was one of my hardest classes - ever. Even most of my college courses didn't compare. That being said, I really appreciate what I learned in that class.

Good for you for doing so well! I probably should never let Isaac see how I studied in school. I was smart, so I got ok grades, but I was a terrible student!

I'm a high school APer, too, LOVE history. Not much for memorizing dates and such--it's much more fun learning about people in history, rather than how it happened to them, if you know what I mean? Great grade, and what a great decision to go into getting a degree in S&E. :woot

Good for you Angie. I have to admit, that I wasn't a fan either in school, despite doing well. It was too much memorization, not enough logical thought! I'd rather take a Calculus course any day of the week.

We don't exactly have History, our kids take Social Studies in elementary which is a combination of sociology, political science, history, economics, geography, anthropology, and civics.

You rock!! I used to like history in high school, but I'd take math over it any time anyway. :)
