So, Pantone has recently released their color of the year for 2018...

Ultra Violet

According to them: this color "communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future."

For me, I just think

I'm not much of a fan of purple...not in my clothes, or home, or even really in my scrapping, so I'm not sure how much I'll incorporate it in my life other than playing Purple Rain on repeat :giggle

What do you think?

HA! I'm with you. Not a huge fan. My daughter has a little bit of violet in her room from when I decorated when she was a baby - but only because it was in the prints I fell in love with. Otherwise it's lime green all the way for me :)

Some purples can be pretty, some I can't stand. Though I am a Viking's fan. And my son's HS next year has purple as a color :)

I used to be so anti-purple. I just hated it. Then, when my daughter was little, she LOVED purple, so it grew on me. She even has this picture book called "Too Purpley" that she liked to read. She has since moved on to blue, specifically teal and turquoise, but I am still enjoying purple. I don't wear a lot of purple (I'm more of a black and gray fan) and I certainly don't decorate with it (definite minimalist here), but I like it. My FitBit band is purple, though more of a plum color. Other than that, not sure how much purple you'll see from me.

I love purple! Years ago I did a beauty thing called "Color Me Beautiful" and it was determined that purple (think deep jewel colors) was one of my best colors (along with black and teal). So I started buying clothes that were purple and I tend to wear a lot of purple and black together (when I'm not in scarlet and grey for OSU or red/white for the local high school).

The last winter coat I bought 3 or 4 years ago is purple. My phone case is purple. And in 2016 I bought a new car... and it is purple (official color is Kalamata). Now, I do not decorate my home in purple. Even in my remodel's this past year, I did not go with any purple.

So, yeah, this color of the year makes me happy :)

Am I the only one that doesn't understand this whole Pantone thing? I mean, I hear it talked about when the color is chosen and then I never really notice it again. Am I the only one :think? Does some need to :poke?
:hehe

I'm hoping to see it! I know there is a joke that purple is the death of a scrap kit, but I love purple!
It's a nice break from blue, green, and orange on boy pages. And the right shade is beautiful for flowers! I had as close to purple flowers as possible for an April wedding, so my love of purple is deep.

Nah, just some company that declared they know what is trending in the world. I can't decide if they look at what is being used and then pick the color, or if they announce the color, and people start to design around it. Or a little of both.
I see it more in home decor, and clothes. Sometimes paper lines.

LOL Dawn!

I used to really hate purple, but I am more neutral towards it these days, and I do find certain tones or color combinations really pretty, especially with flowers as Courtney mentioned. :)

LOVE purple!!! We're building a home this year and my granite countertop will have flecks of purple in it and I'm beyond giddy. :dance

I bet that's really pretty in the granite!

I don't personally love purple...but as a wedding photographer, I'm really excited to see how it is used in wedding design this year!

I can see where it would be a lovely wedding color!

I agree, some are pretty. I just can't find any way to use them in my life except maybe purple flowers outside in the spring and summer. I guess purple will be invading your life next year!

I have a couple of pieces of jewelry with a little purple in them and I almost got the purple FitBit band, but went with the teal color instead.

Ooooh I looked up the Kalamata color and it is really pretty! That's more along the lines of purple I might like. I don't think I own any purple clothes at all. Maybe a tank top that I wear under my black haha.

I don't really understand it, but I do notice that whatever color it is, it starts to pop up more in design pieces.

I admit that I am not at all drawn to kits with purple in them. I don't mind a pretty purple flower here and there, but I mostly avoid it lol. I do love purple flowers outside my house :)

Oh Donny and his purple socks :) I think Sweet and Innocent was the very first single I ever owned :flirty

I'm a neutral gal all the way and I can take a pop of purple here and there. I'm like you, I don't quite hate it as much as I used to.

I don't get it either...now if they made the color of the year grey maybe I'd pay a bit more attention to it LOL

Also not feeling the purple thing, just not my color, although when I in junior high the lady I babysat for told me I looked in purple (I owned ONE purple sweater) on the rare occasion I wore it.

I love purple, but I can't stand wearing it. When I was young, I begged my parents for a purple room. They finally bought me some paint, a nice lavender, and my dream came true.

I'm waiting for it to be black...I'm all in on that one!!

I begged my parents for a pink room when I was young. They caved and I lived in a Pepto-Bismol world for years haha. And I love your new avatar!!

When I was a little girls, I swore I would have a purple house. I loved purple even though I don't remember having anything specific that was purple. I still don't wear it or decorate with it but I love some shades. Our granddaughter's favorite color was purple from the time she was two and could say it until she was about eight and decided pink was better (go figure!). We did have a purple Christmas tree for two years (and it was gorgeous) in honor of my younger sister who died of pancreatic cancer. I'm also never sure if Pantone bases their annual choice on popularity or if they are just trying to create trends. Love getting everyone's opinion on purple!

I've not normally been a "purple person" but this winter I got a couple of dark purple sweaters and scarves and really like them. So for me, it's the shade/tone of the color. Dark purple...yes...have grown to love it. The lighter pastel type shades....nope. Don't care for lilac, lavender....the lighter shades.
