I love to document current things going on in our life. Amanda shared one great way to do that last week. See her post HERE! This week I wanted to extend upon how you can keep track of some currents that are going on in your life.

To keep track of some more current things going on in our lives, I've chosen to do quarterly interview with my girls. I aim for doing these in January, April, August, and October. This what the blank interview looks like, just a normal 8.5 x 11 with questions on it.

I then interview my girls one at a time. In the past I've only interviewed my 8 and 5 year old. I'm excited to start interviewing my 3 year old this year too. I highly suggest you go somewhere quiet where your kiddos can't get distracted or other siblings can't suggest answers to them. When I interview my girls I write down exactly what they say, exactly how they say it. This really captures the way they talk and it also captures words that they haven't mastered yet. For instance you can see my 5 year old can't say "Mashed Potatoes" for her favorite game. She calls it "Mash ta tatoe" At the end of the interview I have my girls sign their names. You would be surprised how much a child's handwriting can change in just three months! For instance three months ago my 8 year old was not signing her name in cursive nor was she dotting her eyes with hearts! After the interview I also take time to jot any notes on the back that I need to clarify things. For instance I took time to write on the back of Allie's page describing who her best friend is. It is a little boy in school that we don't see outside of school. We have no pictures of them together so the memory would be lost if I didn't fill in that extra information on the back.

Can I also tell you I really had to work hard on keeping a straight face when Lily told me in her interview that she is afraid of boomerangs! Not sure where that came from! :giggle I'm sure she will look back on it someday and laugh too!

I have big dreams for these interviews. One day I hope to type them up nicely. I also want to scan my daughters handwriting so I can place it in the album next to the typed interview.

But lets be realistic here shall we?! I haven't managed to do the typing and scanning of these interviews. What I have done is copy these and put one in each of my daughters album. Then I have taken the original and placed it in our Project Life album as is. At this time I'm happy with that. I would rather have the information in there than not just because I haven't had time to pretty it up! You can't see this in the picture but my 5 year old's interview is on the back of her sisters.

I hope this has given you some inspiration on another way to capture important day to day memories in your albums. I would love for you to fill this thread with inspiration on this very thing. Do you do something similar to this? have you seen a layout done like this? What ideas do you have for prettying up these interviews? What TLP products could help out with that process?

This is such a great idea- my boys just turned 10 and have changed so quickly right in front of my eyes - I am going to try to incorporate this - no, not try- I am going to do this! Thanks for the inspiration!

Last year on my son's birthday I gave him an interview. I also included photos of his room, and his address. I plan to do it in every birthday. Last year I couldn't get him to write his name, but I plan on adding that to the list this year!

Such fantastic ideas. I need to include something like this. I used to scrap a page every now and then like this and it's always fun looking back seeing how they change.
